Can Someone Explain This Illegal Formation?

Illegal formation is < 7 guys right. I did some research the rule is still 7 players on the line by Mike Pereira. 5 lineman and Steve. That's 6. They said Steve covering the tightend so it was a penalty. Olsen foot is a little bit behind Kalil. So he wasn't on the line of scrimmage? Ok, wipes out a 15 yard catch by D.Will

What confuses me is the next play. This time Lafell was on the line like Steve. But Olsen was in the exact same place except he's on the other side of the line this time by his self. His foot is a little bit behind Kalil. That's still 6. No penalty

The next play we have 7 clearly. 5 OL, Steve all the way right, Ginn all the way left

That one call is what put us in that big Steve 4 down play

Olsen was closer to the line then the tackle, which places him on the line, and since LaFell is also on the line on the outside that's 8 on the line. The outside receiver also can't be on the line on the same side as the tight end being on the line.

This is the correct answer.

OK figured that, makes more sense now

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
