That's true, but it was a show-me contract. Everyone was pretty smart on his coming back with the team.

 

Obviously, they wouldn't keep him around if he wasn't able to come back and perform (how's NY treating you, Jon?).

You don't have to agree with everything JR's ever done, but to classify him as anything other than an excellent owner who loves his team and the Carolinas is a flat out disservice to the truth.

A lot of people seem to hold against him his so-called "extreme" position during the last labor disagreement.

 

Well, to be successful in a negotiation of almost ANY kind, you rarely enter that negotiation already meeting the other guy halfway.  Usually BOTH sides will adopt as extreme a position as they can publicly manage and THEN start compromising behind closed doors.  If you meet halfway before the negotiations, you've already forfeited half of your bargaining power.

 

I don't hold things like that against either side of a negotiation.

Of I agree. Why do you people think Steve Smith stayed? Not just Cam but JR has one hell of a relationship with his players. His player live a respect him. I'm damn he gave Greg and his wife his personal plane to get back and forth for their sons surgeries. But head a cheap cold hearted bastard.
