Extreme Bandwaggoning

I decided to browse Facebook for the first time in a few weeks and, obviously, I follow the NFL Facebook page.

NFL posted a picture saying remember to vote for your favorite player.. The top liked comment was "Cam! Panthers all day baby!" The next post was about NFL Start 'Em Sit 'Em. Completely unrelated to any team but the top comment liked was "LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!! #keeppounding #panthernation #carolinapanthers WOOOOOOOO" Third post was ranking the top ten QB's from last week. Most liked comment was "BUT WHERE BE CAM THO? #Haters"

I met a guy in my town yesterday who was wearing a Beuerlein. He said "Oh yeah, I'm really happy to see this winning season our team is really playing well I've been a Fan since 1991..

Anyone else see a huge rise in so called "Fans" lately? It's waaaaaay worse then 03' 05' and 08' seasons.

See Falcons in 2012, Giants. Broncos, Seahawks, 49ers, and saints fans are the worst though. Fair weathers fans decide to latch onto a team and call it theirs. Some will stick, some won't. I personally hope all the people using hashtags on Facebook and professing the Panthers as their team since the AFL NFL merger would become more educated or disappear.

Come one, come all. I fuging love it. I want this region to bleed black and blue. I want Redskin, Cowboy, and Steeler fans to be suppresed. Welcome the bandwagon jumpers with open arms you holier-than-thou dickbags! Reach out with a hand and help thm climb aboard. Extend a huge middle finger to the opposing fanbase bandwagons in our region.

Bandwagons are how true fans are born.  It is OK, and I am glad to see my team creating excitement in others who were not fans before.  They may jump when you do, yell and scream with each score, but you have depth and passion for the team, something that will take them time to develop.  Every team with a national following--the Patriots, Steelers, Cowboys, Packers, for instance, have 1 thing in common.

Sure, it rubs you wrong to see someone who used to bash the Panthers now with a black, blue and silver Panther "Keep Pounding" T shirt, but that was how they dealt with losing.  Many of them are losers in other walks of life so don't expect them to align themselves with anything but winners if given the choice.  I mean, If I worked at McDonalds in Jacksonville and my wife was a 400 lb unemployed social worker, I don't think I would tie my heartstrings to the Jaguars right now.

Come one, come all.  Also it means we get more tv coverage and more nationally televised games, which means a lot to us that do not live in Charlotte.  It is  just more fun for us that have seen the bad years, and can appreciate where we are now a little more.

It happens every time the Panthers make a playoff push; Just like last February I saw several Ravens flags flying on peoples cars here in Rock Hill. I'm like......'really?....Ravens fans in South Carolina???'

Just embrace it and let'em hop on the wagon....it's a fun time  :)

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
