What the fuging fug is this sophomore slump everyone talks about with Cam Newton???!?!? The numbers are easily accessible with a quick search. His second year numbers were every bit as good as his first year, setting aside his rushing touchdown totals and his completion percentage took a small dip. His QB rating was actually higher than his rookie year and the team won one more game than the year prior. When I hear people mention his second year with contempt it pisses all their credibility out the window right off the bat.

Maybe it's because ol Aaron got hurt and hasn't scored a TD for so long that they forgot that he even does it!

I posted in the "season bold predictions" thread that Cam's stats would be similar to the past two seasons but the media would say he is playing better or worse depending on our record.

Well his TD% is slightly up but his INT% is also up from last season. Yet he went from a sophomore slump to MVP candidate in the eyes of the media.

Great Jamaican rum, will people quit pulling out the damn race card every time someone says something bad about Newton.  This is the 80000th time this week.  No one says anything about Kaepernick and his arm kissing thing, nor did anyone give a poo about Lights Out, the Dirty Bird, the Icky Shuffle or any of the other millions of dances people do and have been doing for years.  Calling someone racist because they think Wilson is better than Cam is fuggin idiotic and laughable.

 

The media does not like Cam.  It's not a race thing.  It's a Cam is a god amongst men, hit the damn genetic jackpot, jealousy thing.  He's 6'5", young, rich, athletic, damn good looking, and is now on the verge of being successful at the highest stage.  There will be a ton of googly eyed, adoring fans, as well as an equal number of venom spitting, jealous douches.  Using the race card just makes your argument look weak.

I never saw one post game interview in his first two years where he seemed selfish...not one. He always took the blame for loses and said the right things. The suggestion box comment didnt bother me because the play calling was terrible at the time. They are winning now and all of the sudden he has changed??? GTF outta here

This whole maturity thing ESPN keeps talking about is such fuggin bullshit. They can't acknowledge that Cam is becoming a better passer.

 

Im sorry I don't follow the logic that Cam decides to talk nice in interviews now so somehow that makes him a better QB and makes the team win.Cam is smarter with the football now that's it. We are a more conservative version of 2011 with a defense that can actually be trusted to keep a lead and close games.

 

 

Seriously  if we keep winning I wish Cam do his super man pose in post game interviews and just walk the fug out.

      I mean, you're acting like we don't see the tippy-toe bunny hops, jump throws more than normal (with both feet dangling in the air every which a way), and off-platform but off-balance throws that arrive short or sail high. Could that be bad mechanics due to being short? Could a seeming propensity to bail the pocket towards the sidelines early as opposed to sitting in the pocket tall and strong, surveying his reads, be an attempt at trying to see an open throwing lane? I'm not saying that what you're saying isn't a contributing factor to what has been an underwhelming display of executing the QB position, but this is year three, and if the lightbulb hasn't switched on by now---if you haven't figured out that guys are faster, stronger and generally more athletic, then what's it going to take? Are you telling me that he can't nail down such an easy concept as, "I can't get away with the things I did in college at the pro level," is that right? If he can't get past that, then that surely limits his ability to successfully execute all the other stuff.  Look, I'm not trying to be flippant. I acknowledge that playing pro football is more complex than a lot of fans realize, but all we can do, as fans, is observe. One of my favorite things to do is just look at the greater picture and think what part human nature is playing in the many decisions that are being made or have to be made. You're absolutely correct that fans don't know exactly what's going on, but that is by design, and in many ways it's just the nature of the beast. Some things we can't know. That being said, the professionals screw the hell up all the time. The professionals disagree all the time. These disagreements can be within the same franchise or from franchise to franchise. And sometimes these decisions are all over the place, so excuse me if I ain't exactly buying the I-know-more-than-thee sentiment and that that means that professionals always make better decisions than fans would about certain players. Some of this stuff is simply luck or a crapshoot.
