Can the Panthers run on New Orleans?

I want more play action passes. We have a dizzying amount of rushing options, possibly the most one team has had in NFL history, yet almost every fake handoff is a Cam run. We should be confusing defenses more.

I'd like to see Tolbert as a featured back with Jstew as relief. And for God's sake keep DeAngelo to outside runs and screens.

playaction works when your RBs establish the run.....our QB and FB have been our rush attack of late.

Williams or Stewart need to do more to see playaction be increased and really work.  If teams aren't worried about the run....it is just a delayed pass.

Haha, aren't we usually in 3rd and long situations on the first drive of the game after DWill's first two carries?? Every team expects us to come out running on the first series to get Cam warmed up to the defensive looks.

Our run game is so weak.....it shows in the first series of every game.  Cam has to try to open it up for them.  In our 8 game win streak we have never opened up with 2 rush attempts.  Cam has not passed to open up a game in our win streak only twice.....

Yeah, we used to do it all the time under Chud and that other OC who shall not be named. We just need to find the right formula to start quicker. We seem to have too many 3 and outs during our first drive, even during the win streak. I loved that RR has began to defer to the 2nd half after winning the coin toss. That way we are guaranteed possession at the beginning of the 2nd half despite how the 1st goes offensively.

I think we can run on them... having said that though, the O line has to open some holes, which they haven't been that good at...

DWill needs a few steps for something to develop and JStew has seemed like he's really, really rusty so far.

If Tolbert moves the ball, keep handing it to him.  Design some plays for Cam too...

We have to keep the offense on the field as much as possible and the D line MUST bust Brees in the mouth from the start.

D-Will should be fresh after missing the last two games.  He had one of the best games of his career against the Saints last year.  Obviously their defense is better this year, but I still think Deangelo cracks 100 yards in this game.  Pound the rock, control the clock, keep Brees off the field.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
