Newton made huge throws down the field - he was near perfect. Didn't turn the ball over, had 230 yards at the half for chrissake. Then he was nuetered in the gameplan and we sat on the lead instead of letting him continue to fire. All of his throws were tight and medium to deep.  If he played in an offense that truly kept pouring it on like some around the league he would have thrown for 400 yards today.

 

he's been throwing for 300 and 400 yards for two years now and we've gotten dick beans to show for it.

 

i'll take a "neutered" 271-yard performance and a win every time

Unless some other defender had a lights out game I'm not aware of (Quinn is the only one that comes close that I know of) Captain should be a shoe in for DPOW. 2 sacks and a pick 6, don't get much better than that.

Maybe Cam's foot was hurting worse than he let on and the plan had to become more run-heavy out of necessity.  Not disagreeing with you - I also thought he had a pretty dang good game.  Just pointing out the possible extenuating circumstance.

Cam played great today, those seam routes to Lafell and Olsen were fuging beautiful. The seam throws are improving from him. I already think that he is one of the best in the league at throwing the curl out and the out route....certainly showing some growth now.

Honorable mention to the guy who kept Santonio Holmes quiet after his "weak secondary" comments: Melvin White who was man-man with Holmes most of the game.
