Carolina's secondary vs Drew Brees

Obviously the report is a poo ton of bias. But sadly, they have a solid point. Our secondary is quite pathetic if our defensive line/LB corp does not get there. Which is the reason I think McDerm blitzes more in the first half this game.

Yeah, I look for us to have a few new wrinkles in our game plan Sunday against the Saints.Rivera said his staff is studying how the Seahawks and Rams shut down the Saints in two of the past three games and made no secret about plans to play copycat this week.

("We have to take a look and see what things they did that mesh well with our game plan, and try to incorporate those things as well in the game plan" ) Rivera said.

didn't read link yet, but look at those pockets....Seattle collapsed his pocket and Brees was moving around in the Saints EZ, but he had a nice clean bubble to throw in the Panther vid.

I think someone posted after the Panthers @Saints,  the difference was that speed rushers vs power rushers and that's when McD started blizting safeties to try to get to Bree's a half-second faster. That Bree's internal clock needed to be disrupted.

Either your front four completely dominate their line or you drop more people into coverage and rush 2-3. That means dropping Hardy and C.J too to cover the flat... it's been done and we can do it

If you go up 1st like we was supposed to it forces them to pass pass pass and then you can really do it then

Melvin White is awful, I don't care what anyone says. And I don't see the point of Norman being on the team when he'll never see the field on defense.

White is clearly promising but he still a rookie and he is doing costly mistakes, he should not be a starter yet.

Florence should be the starter.

I do not think our secondary will get better over the week but the turf will slow the saints down some. The best we can hope for is more pressure from the front four and scoring touchdowns on offense with long sustained drives. This is one of those weeks we will need to lean more on the offense to beat the saints.

McD doesn't need to orchestrate more blitzes. We just need to pull back on the zone (at least 25%) and go man-to-man. I'm tired of watching Luke and Thomas sit back, give big cushions and let Drew find the holes. Let them attack the TEs and RBs for christ's sake! Munnerlyn, Mitchell, Davis and Klein should eventually come in on blitzes but it shouldn't be on every other down. Let Hardy, Johnson, Addison, Star, Short and Dwan handle the workload.

White is an UDFA. What. The. Fug. Did. You. Expect? I swear, The Huddle lives in hyperbole and unrealistic expectations. He's a big physical corner with some potential upside, but he's a damn rookie. Cut him some slack. He shouldn't be starting at all right now. That said, I'd take him over Norman every time. Josh doesn't have it upstairs to be a corner in this league. He's an idiot.

I agree ,while not ideal White is is our best option.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
