Huddle question.....running a four WR formation on occasion

Before your heads explode to this idea due to the fact our current WR corps is subpar compared to a lot of teams........just a question. Instead of pulling that "wildcat" crap again which is to me a wasted down why not try different approach. It seems that this McNutt character is a talented player with good hands and size,Hixon is a good route runner and Ginn has the wheels, along with Lafell who is playing better ( need more consistency) why not try this on a play or two. Cam tends to throw a high ball so ths may be an advantage for him.I guess he has been getting reps with the second team and he should know the play book a bit.Hopefully we can grab a lead and try something not expected, throw them a curve ball....something we never do.A four wide set and see what they can do with it.

Hey, I'm willing to try different things somtimes.

But why not try McNutt, with Olsen, and the two biggest other receivers, if height is your concern?

Of course, you can always try your way for diversity (4 wide receivers). However, if you're doing that, why not just put in the 4 best guys (including Hixon), unless you just want to be purely experimental  in a tough game in Atlanta with the division crown riding on it, with this McNutt character????

The coaches' insistence on running a basic Wildcat is really baffling to me when there is so much crap you try from it... and don't say it's a Shula thing because Chud never tried anything either. We've been setting up that fake wildcat for three years now and all we've gotten is one screen pass to Cam (2011) and a fake wildcat to Smitty (last week). We need to try and innovate with that set... get Cam out wide, bring him back in, and then set up some Cam-Ginn-Dwil double reverse or something. I mean, you're not going to see DeAngelo throwing the ball so why act like it's going to happen?

As for the set, I have no problem with it but the problem is we either lose Olsen or D-Wil/Tolbert in a four-wide set. I very highly doubt it's worth taking them out to give McNutt or King a shot IMO unless it's the last play before half or something.

I'm not saying this is something to do on a regular basis by any means......but instead of flushing a play down the toilet with that horrible "wildcat" crap thst never works, try something else....can't be any worse then that.

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
