it would, but I've given up hoping some guy that is getting no playing time but has been practicing with us for weeks is going to suddenly explode on the field. I've felt that way for years with this team and receivers, as if it was only a matter of time before some PS player really took off mid season... I hope he does, but reality suggests he probably won't do much until next year at earliest, once he's had camp and all with us...

I would be happy if he makes a couple positive contributions in this game.

All kidding aside that is exactly how championships are won. Next man up.

I recall that WalterFootball.com had WR Marvin McNutt projected to be selected somewhere in the 2nd round of the draft. After McNutt siid down the draft board, several NFL football analyst commented that a few years down the road some GM'S would be scratching their heads and wondering how he slipped by them.

Careful saying Walterfootball around here. The pitchforks and torches will come out quick.

Hopefully he lives up to the billing

What if Hixon balls out catching everything thrown to him and put up 150 yards. What if he were a franchise caliber receiver all along who was never given the opportunity. It would make for an interesting playoffs. Wishful thinking though.

Better chance if being McNutt because he is more of an unknown

Id love to see either make big plays

Agree. Those guys look great in college highlights. McNutt was killing with those one-handed catches at Iowa.

Mcnutt could come out and be a diamond in the rough this game. But again news flash. This ain't college. This is the pros. What he did in college ain't going to always trasfer over to the pros. I don't know what to expect from the rookie. Depends on how many chances Mcnutts get Sunday. If he gets open alot when he has the chance. Then Cam may throw to him more. But I expect Mcnutt to see limited tries this Sunday. You mostly will see 3 wides and TE sets most of the game. Maybe 4 wide a few times. But who knows what will happen. Hopefully the kid will be a big surprise for the team.

    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
