Time to unleash the New Ton

I think this game once again will come down to redzone efficiency against a 3-4 defense. It's been a weakness and you would think by now we'll be past that point. This will be our 6th 3-4 defense this season and so far we're 3-13 in the redzone, 23% against 3-4. FG's are unacceptable and put unnecessary pressure on us once we start settling for making the game closer. If we can get that far down, there's no excuse not gaining 20 yards to the endzone

I made a thread saying get to a no huddle offense soon as we get to the 20 and I was half-serious, but now I think it's a great idea. To take it a step further it should be ran more period as we all agree. Watching Auburn(early in the game) it's clear that Cam thrives doing that, it's what he does best. Now that he can read defenses and audible to successful plays, it's time to unleash him

not only that, but we should see Brandon Williams and Kenjon Barner--see what Williams has on third and short and in the red zone, and Barner mostly on screens and plays to the outside.  This is the only game there is, we're not guaranteed next week, so everything has to start going on the table.

We're not going to suddenly start giving the ball to players who have barely been on the field all year unless there are some major injuries.

I don't know about that

Once you get to this level in the playoffs, it is a "all hands on deck" effort at this point

If you can run, catch, tackle you will be used

I have to respectfully disagree.  We've gone through 17 weeks in the season and Barner has done absolutely nothing to show he is capable of performing said plays in a regular season game let alone a playoff game.  I don't know that Williams has seen the field all year.  I agree that there should be some creativity but this looks to be reckless.

FYI.  about 5 or so posts from now someone will sarcastically recommend bringing AE back.

Right. Especially Barner. Already have Dwill, Tolbert and now Stew back so there is no need to put a rookie in. Deangelo has been killing it as our screen/ big play in space back. Just use him that way and pound Tolbert up the gut, spell him with Stew. I wouldn't mind seeing Williams but I doubt they change much this late. MORE no huddle would be huge! That defense just played in COLD weather and traveled and now has to travel again and deal with jetlag.  I think going nohuddle could wear them out early

Dwayne Jarrett not doing anything

Well I was way off.  It was 4 posts and a Dwayne Jarret reference.

    • Ironic that out of all of the multiple players listed, you zeroed in on Bryce Young and only Bryce Young. No mention of Derrick Brown or Jaycee Horn... Hell, we can even add Icky to the mix but sure... let's laser-focus on Bryce. That's a hell of a mirror for you to run into. 👀 I'm not sure what "wisdom" you think you're imparting to the front office beyond the idea that the being Panthers means that they're destined to suck forever. That doesn't exactly sound like wisdom as much as it sounds like the same relentless doompilling you've been committed to. But sure, let's pretend it's "rational" to condemn a pick after limited rookie action and an injury setback (and that anything less than full-blown pessimism is bootlicking). That's certainly the lighthouse we all need in the storm that you insist is eternal... at least until you and only you, decide it's not. Unlike you, I'm not asking anyone to leave. I'll just keep showing up with facts and context. You're more than welcome to keep showing up with doom and gloom.
    • So you don’t think with his weight down /position more similar to what it was in 2023 he’s capable of 10+sacks? I don’t watch college football so just going off the write ups, like getting the opinions from folks who do
    • I'm excited for Scourton. Even if the sack numbers aren't there right away, he'll contribute and has a certain floor IMO. Would be thrilled if he can turn into a Charles Johnson-type contributor one day. Never a star (though, please do), but reliable and damn good at what he does.
