Yes this is true but it goes a step further, the 25+ crowd is having children old enough to follow the team. My nieces dress up in the jerseys I have bought them and play football in the living room. You have fathers taking their 8 year old boys to the games. We are birthing second generation Panthers fans.

I am a second generation Panther fan! i was 4 years old when the team was created and my Dad was an instant fan. it took him until the '03 Super Bowl run to get me interested, and i wasnt an avid follower until the '05 playoff run. I am 22 and on my own now but my Dad left a love for the Panthers in my heart for sure. where are my tissues? haha

The reason for the increased excitement this year versus 08 is all about personality on this team, a dominant defense, and Cam.  Kracken, Smitty, story about TD, etc gets everyone involved.  The defense is sick.  People like Riverboat Ron, though we all agree that we hate Ron Rivera.

Oh, and the economy kindof sucked in 2008.  Don't forget that.

Ready over here in England too... Twenty five of us are going to a bar Sunday all wearing our panthers jerseys, scarves, and a few flags lol. Whatever happens were beeming with pride

Want pics.  Also..how did you and 25 get to be Panthers fans?  Glad you are.

I went to Jason's Deli for lunch and they weren't wearing Panthers' gear.  Total disappointment.  That salad bar and club sandwich didn't taste as good as it normally does.

Should have walked out.

This year reminds me of '03 - very much so.  That's why I really think this year is going to be so special.  Scratching and clawing so many games - it's the same.  And the excitement in the city .... the same.  The main difference is you had the Hope Stout stuff going on then which added to it before.  But this is still good.

The Hope Stout story and connection to the Panthers was so inspiring.  You recently helped us remember that, sadly I had forgotten....although can't believe I ever forgot that.  I hope that memory becomes even bigger.  It was so cool that her parents pounded the drum a couple of games ago.  Sam Mills seems to be the centering inspiration now but it seems they should always be linked.  The courage and generosity of both were incredible.

    • I think you have to factor in that we're still not an attractive proposition for Head Coaches. You're not getting the cream of the crop if you fire Canales a year after winning the NFC South, especially considering the situation he walked into.
    • Yeah, I was about to say I hope he's doing okay health-wise because he's not looking good in that pic.
    • Honestly, I dont  think he should be on the hot seat yet. A bad start to next year, then yes. Despite our mistakes on play calling this past season, we played better than anticipated overall. Bryce showed improvement and maturity (although still not nowhere close to our expectations). Better record and 2-15 to 5-12 to 8-9. Despite what we feel the stats dont lie we are improving by 3 wins a year. Could 11-6 be our expectation. That's a high bar but at the rate we are going, thats what its looking like. We all want to see a 5-12 to a 13-4 record but we are methodically moving up. Success doesnt happen overnight (well in most cases).  IMO we are struggling mostly on the defensive end. LB and edge are our biggest weakness. I see Bryce making improvements (even though I was a Bryce hater) next year. Biggest concern is LT on offense. How to fix this? We need a big name edge or to trade up and get a big name edge or LB and pick up one in FA and draft one. Also if in the 3rd we can pick up a TE. Dont know if Sanders is the answer or Tremble (even though I love Trembles blocking and power after the catch). If these two can get their footwork together they would be great. Maybe all they need is a better TE coach. And if Brooks can stay healthy and be the back we thought he could be, man that would be great
