Game comes down to one man....IMO

Bell will be going up against Brooks for most of the game unless SF specifically go after Bell with Aldon.

Watch Smith/SF.....the GB game last week was just a gameplan. Smith doesn't stay on that side. Equally goes to both sides as SF looks for a weakness

No, that's not accurate. He's their starting LOLB = Brooks playing on the left. He almost always goes up against the RT.

Just look at where he played when we played them. He went up against Bell.(and owned him)

Gameplan won't matter if Bell can't do his job. Normally I agree with everything you say KP... But Bell's performance is huge.

Let me put it this way, if Bell has the perfect game. 0 sacks, 0 pressure, good run blocking. Do the Panthers win? Is that enough information for you? It would be great but it doesn't win the game on it's own as the thread title suggests.

Everyone needs to play well. We need guys to step up, not one, but most of them. Absolutely we want Bell to have a good game but he is a pawn.

If Bell has a bad game.....we won't have an offense. Run will be bottled up..... Bad game from him means Aldon Smith implodes our O/Cam. Aldon is too good of an athlete.....Cam can't pull his circus act on him all game

We know what Bell is. A try hard guy that gets dominated by superior athletes. We know this. The coaching staff needs to scheme with that in mind. If they don't that is a far bigger gaffe then Bell playing as he always does.

check the stats of our offensive hurries and sack from him alone... we do indeed have problem and he plays a major role. all can be forgiven if he shows up the next 3 games. he owes that to Cam!

I agree he is our weakest link. Him or Chandler. But when the chips are down you look for your stars to take over a game. Not the marginal athlete. When I solve a problem at work I need some constant variables. Bell is a constant, you design your game plan with the expectation he cannot win one on one.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
