trading 1/2 of double trouble will allow carolina to address the offense.

Do you think any team in their right mind would want either of those guys with either of those contracts? Well, any team other than us, sadly.

lol ok maybe so. besides that, trading down from 28th is a no brainer.  Btw, DG has completed his evaluation year.  He knows what he wants.  I have a feeling the off season will be filled with Shock and Awe from him.  He has no allegiance to any player on this team.

The only way either part of Double Trouble plays for another team next year is if they are cut and resigned.  When folks try to talk about trading them, it's kind of laughable!  I'm sorry if some of you cling to that idea, but you have to be realistic.  Trades are a buyer's market, and no one in their right mind is going to want an aging, injured/old back.

As far as dealing with Hardy, I still think a tag is our best bet this year.  Gettleman has done some great things with our cap this season.  I think he might have some more magic to do before we lock him up.  I am still hesitant to give him a mountain of money.  He racked up his almost half his sacks in 2 games...I mean, they were tour de force games for him, but counting the giants game, he got 10 sacks in 3 games...  While sacks do tend to come in bunches...it's a little disturbing.  You also have to ask how good he would be as a solo artist.  He really benefits from CJ on the other side as well as a very good DT rotation.  If he went to some where like Oakland or a place where he's "The Man" how well would he perform?  He's got to decide if it's all money, or being part of a very good team.  CJ's got to answer that as well...give some money to his running mate for the betterment of the team?

That said, he has been quite good in pressures and very good against the run.  Greg's worth a high price, but how high is up to the Panthers.

Gettle-magic in 2014?!?

There are 3 different types of tags. The exclusive tag, the non-exclusive tag, and the transition tag.

"An 'exclusive' franchise player—not free to sign with another club—is offered a minimum of the average of the top five salaries at the player's position as of April 16, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater."

"Using the non-exclusive tag on a player gives teams a certain amount of security. Other teams can work to sign a player to a long-term contract, and the team that tags the player can either match that deal or receive two first-round picks in compensation for its loss. This is the most common usage of the franchise tag, and it's rare for teams to use either of the other two designations."

"The transition tag is not popular with NFL teams, even though it's the cheapest of the three. Using this designation allows other teams to negotiate with a player, and the team that uses the tag can match any offer he receives. Should the team opt not to match any offer, though, there is absolutely no compensation in return, which is why this option isn't used."

I don't think we'll tag Hardy, but keeping him might be too expensive considering the state of our offense.

Gentleman, will simply let Hardy go out and test the open market. If another team wants to over pay and break the bank he will let them. If Hardy wants to stay in Carolina at or below market value. Dave G. will lock him up long term. We just can't overpay we have too many holes if want to return to the playoffs consistently

I trust Gettleman.  He will be a Panther next year or We are going to get something Very nice off of him Via tag and trade thats going to make people happy.

Year 1 under Gettleman and look where we are currently at, its only going to get better we dissolve some of these hurney contracts.  Like Rivera now but this was the best Hire by Richardson since the team has formed.
