Smitty attended Santa Monica Junior college before going to Utah. That was a 2 year community college except they had football thank goodness. I am sure even though they aren't exactly alike Smith likes our community college system because it allows student an economical way to get an Associates degree or a vocational certification. Then they either continue on for more education or start a JOB. A very important educational option in these tough times.

Steve was not one of these blessed athletes that went to Alabama and got hundred dollar handshakes. He went to SM Community College while living with his parents. He worked at Taco Bell and rode the bus to school. There are tons of Steve Smiths out there that never made it.
