Theoretically: Can we cut Williams and Stewart and get a back like Beastmode?

no here's what we do. restructure stewart to a really cheap up-front contract but secretly backload it and not tell anyone and then trade him to the cardinals for their 7th-rounder. then when they find out and get really mad act all surprised and promise to make it right and find a three-way trade partner. then talk to the giants and tell them that they can have their 7th pick back if they give us a sixth and then also trade that 7th to the cards for stewart. then take that sixth and hire hurney for a one-day contract on day three of the draft to come in and make the pick. select a future hall of fame wide receiver, pay hurney with a pound of cocaine, fire him, and win superbowls.

we got this

Oh good lord the offseason. Bring back neg rep pls.

bStewart can be better than Lynch if he stays healthy and has an offensive line like the Seahawks. He is a lot like a mix of Lesean McCoy with Eddie Lacy and if he was given 25 touches a week, could be extremely productive. With almost a full season off and a full offseason healthy should do wonders for him.

Deangelo, at this point is far more expendable.

Lynch is 3 years younger than D-Will but he entered the league only 1 year later. He is probably the most overrated back in the league. Either that or DeAngelo is criminally underrated and underappreciated.

Lynch: 8,921 yd, 63 TD, 23 Fmb

DWill: 8,204 Yd, 53 TD, 11 Fmb

......& Lynch has 412 more carries/catches

I wouldn't trade Kalil or Silatolu for anyone on Seattle's line. Nor Gross if you're speaking for one season. Seattle doesn't have a good line.

Silatolu and Kugbila didn't play. Assuming we resign Gross and upgrade the RT we could have a formidable line. The problem I see is that they really don't have an identity. They're not a mauling group or a pass blocking group. It's middle of the road which I think lowers my expectations for our running backs.

However, with Stew, Tolbert, and Kenjon I have faith that the job will get done. Considering this is the first season Stew missed any significant time, he gets a pass until it becomes a trend. Just think back to the stuff arms, jukes, jumps, power runs, and pass catching Stew can do. If I remember correctly he nearly led the league in causing missed tackles in 2011.

Get him healthy and let him get the ball.

Adding the term "theoretically" basically bastardizes the original intent of the thread, and makes it much like the useless other threads that discuss dropping both D-Will and J-Stew. One maybe (D-will on June 1), but both ain't happening.

Moreover, keep talking poo about J-Stew. I promise you I will start another STFU-about-J-Stew-thread when he settles into the role of an elite feature back that we've always envisioned.

Well I'm convinced now that deangelo Williams is better than marshawn lynch. Please don't let seattle's Front office see this post, they might try to steal deangelo and pawn an inferior player like lynch on us.

I would take Lynch over Steward in a heart beat

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
