Did John Fox take a swipe at the Panthers?

I'd say most objective people (i.e. members of any fanbase outside the Panthers and Broncos) already think he's a great coach. At least that's my read. Granted, it's a subject of much debate on this forum. I would say the question of how much of his success is because of Peyton is a valid one.

One thing I think can rightly be said here is that Fox was successful here, but also flawed. He absolutely made some coaching decisions that cost us games (most famously the way he defended Fitzgerald in the Cardinals playoff game) but you can't argue that he won us plenty of games with his coaching too.

Truthfully, the ultimate answer regarding Fox and the Panthers is that they needed to part ways. This is one divorce that was rightly the best option for both parties.

As far as the rest: That debate is ongoing. I have my own opinions, but I don't worry that much about "what might have been" myself because I think what did happen was for the best.

The only time I ever hear people who have never been panther fans saying "fox is a great coach" it's almost always simply been an appendage to a bigger point. Like:

"That Denver's going to be a big threat with that peyton manning throwing those lasery passes to his minions of receivers that always seem to be in the right spot. also they signed a shitload of good free agents like DRC and Welker so they're pretty much the most complete thing since they put cupholders on movie theater seats. Also that john fox is a good coach..."

Hence why I said "objective people".

If Fox did he has good reason. He did not exactly leave on the best of terms, but he kept his mouth shut then.

How many millions did Fox get paid by JR? ..as much as the Pats coach....

My opinion for those millions who should just keep his mouth shut in the house that he and hurney built

The list of of pro bowl QBs passed on is long.

He should get down on his knees every day for the football gods dropping the best QB of the generation to a man who set back offensive football 50 years

No manning and he'd be sitting home with the rest. Nice man but he should just shut his passive aggressive mouth about it and JRs milliOns sooth his pain at quail hollow. Don't mean to sound pissed but he got millions to fail

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
