But most signs from those around the team, including some of his teammates, indicate Gross is done, with an official retirement announcement coming as soon as this week. So unless the three-time Pro Bowler has a sudden change of heart, and gains back the weight he’s already lost since the playoff loss to the 49ers, the Panthers will go into a season without Gross as one of their starting tackles for the first time since John Fox’s inaugural year in Carolina.

The team will not be the same.  I was at the game when he broke his ankle and I was OMG because I thought he was done way too early.  Now I feel like he gave it his all and he deserves to do what he wants to do.  All the best to him if he is done.  Great Panther, great.

If this is true, I'm sad as a Panther fan but as a man I am happy for him.  It's good for him to leave the game playing at a high level with no serious lasting injuries.  I will miss the "This is Gross" podcasts.
