Then there’s the question of whether Kaepernick’s success comes more from his innate abilities or from the highly talented team that surrounds him. And whether any other coach can get out of Kaepernick the production that Harbaugh has — especially once the postseason rolls around and Kaepernick seems to find a higher level of play.

Hahahahaha.

On a serious note, this would truly fug us on Cam's contract negotiations, as this would surely be the first contract his agent will look to as a jumping off point for talks.

Discuss.

Trent Balke knows how to play this game better than Kaeps agent... He almost sent off Harbaugh because Harbaugh wanted too much on a new contract, who says Balke wont do the same to Kaep... I wouldn't be surprised to see San Fran bring in a quality backup quarterback to provide leverage in negotiations with Kaep.

Kap isn't worth it, he and Wilson have the best supporting casts in the entire league and usually manage games, no way they're deserving of elite money.

Russ is. He struggled a little during the playoffs but he's great.

Kaep on the other hand..... WOW. $18M per year for a QB with the arm of Derek Anderson and the decision making ability of Daunte Culpepper. Awesome. Where do we sign up?

He'll get it. That's just today's NFL. They traded away a #1 pick who was having his best season, so Kaepernick could be their future. If your committed to a guy at qb that's the price these days. You either pay it or move on to a guy who you believe is worth it, but chances are you're going to pay it to somebody at some point. Look at every contract qbs are signing these days. That's just the market for a franchise qb and they obviously believe Kaepernick is their guy.

Either Derek Anderson still has extremely high arm strength that I am not aware of, or you are uninformed. You can mock Kaep for many things, but arm strength is definitely not on that list.

Accuracy. Not strength.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
