Ever since we realized that he likely wouldn't see much playing time this season after making the roster, and then becoming aware of Julius Thomas' story with the Broncos, that was exactly who I envisioned Brandon Williams becoming.  Of course, this is all speculative, as not many of us have seen what he can actually do on the field.  BUT, from reports in training camp, he was making some really big plays and his physicality and athleticism was quite the weapon in scrimmages.

Well, I've always thought that the Panthers do a good job of controlling what they "hype" thorugh their PR department.  Usually, when they do a feature on a player, there's something more to it...

In this article, Strickland compares Williams to Julius Thomas.  We can only hope...

You mean like Armanti Edwards, Gary Barnridge, and Kenjon Barner?

Damn.  Got me there JT...  LOL.

In my defense, I think Hurney was writing those articles himself at the time for Edwards and Barnidge.

I still believe in Barner.

I am hoping he steps up--he was very raw in camp.  Maybe he will be ready to contribute.  Way too soon to write him off as an Armanti.  Edwards took 4 years to prove he was not an NFL player.

Williams

Kugbila

McNutt

King

Barner

A lot of people have seen enough to write these players off.  I am not one of them, because some players are developmental.  Not all are immediate starters.  If these 4 develop--if 2 do--if one does---we are in better shape next year.

Both Rivera and G-Man want use to badly be/become a power running team. Barner do not fit in that equation.

Rivera has always coveted a scat back. I fully expect Barner to get some real opportunities to actually step up and make some plays this coming season.

If the guy don't ever play how will we ever know? Julius Thomas did nothing for two seasons but was persisted with by the broncos and they reaped the rewards last season, get the guy out on the field, same as barner.

Thomas was being developed the first year, and indeed was being lauded as a highly talented future play-maker. He was derailed by injury that second season. That's the real reason that we didn't see him break out in 2012.

If we don't get B-Will on the field this year, then I am going to begin thinking that the OC is more of a liability than I already do. Yeah, he wasn't the best blocker by any means, but neither is Thomas or Jimmy Graham, and they aren't really expected to do that, as much as be an offensive play-maker. Shula needs to open up his playbook.

If he can run and catch Olsen can block with the line, lafell can block but can't catch, maybe we will draft someone who can put it all together rather than these half skilled players who can only do one thing but not another, do you think Shula can manage to draw up some plays with two TE sets?

    • If we get to 4-3 do we make a sneaky trade?
    • Corbett should move back to guard if anything while being the backup for BC and Lewis. Cade needs to stay at center. That much has been obvious since last year.  Coker needs to be fast tracked to the lineup, preferably starting over XL.  The problem comes with Chubba, JT and Turk... 3 starters that the backups have arguably outperformed. I like JT's ball skills but I'm quickly becoming an Evans fan. Hopefully JT coming back will only affect James Mitchell. Idunno but Rico should be untouchable at the moment...he's on OPTY/MVP pace and Turk should NEVER be utilized as a NT again.
    • Looking at the TE situation, does Sanders get on the field if he can't block to the level of TT and ME?  I am 100% on board with Sanders getting Wally Pipped on this one.  We have plenty of WR's, I don't see what huge advantage he gives us over TT or ME, or even James Mitchel at this point.  Canales said when he was hired that the TE was a huge part of his offense.  The blocking displayed by the TE room Sunday was exactly what he meant. I also think the WR rotation ends up being....  TMAC, Coaker, Brycen, XL, Horn, Renfrow.  XL needs to learn to run routes, block his ass off, and be dependable if he wants to get opportunities going forward.  He's about to lose the Trust of BY.  Looking at the top 3 Wr's, I easily see JHJr passing him on the depth chart.  My money is on Renfrow being inactive most games going forward.
