Mitchell, Ginn may hit the market

Other than Hardy and Gross, Mitchell was the player that was crucial we re-signed. That being said, this means Godfrey will not be cut and be our starting FS. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing.

that actually makes no fuging sense. cut godfrey (cap savings) and sign mitchell. godfrey sucks on mitchells nuts in comparison.

that dude is a natural born leader and a vicious hitter. He saved about 4 tds last year in single coverage bombs he defended. godfrey flails like a bitch.

Dammit!

Dont let Mitchell leave. We made a mistake before by letting Marlon McCree go. Dont do the same with Mitchell.

Im fine with letting Ginn go. Hes a no3, not a no2.

Just for speculation only, Calvin Pryor in the 1st now if Mitchell aint retain?

The dude was arguably our best receiver last year... Did you even watch? His deep threat was underutilized because of our offensive scheme but it allowed smitty and Olsen to get open many times.

"Arguably best" on a WR corps as weak as ours is hardly irreplaceable. Both these guys are good, but a bit overrated by our fan base IMO.

Follow me here: The reason we haven't cut Godfrey is because Gettleman was hoping to re-sign Mike Mitchell. Since (according to Person) we will let him test the FA market we have to hang on to Godfrey (for now) unless you want Anderson Russell and Robert Lester as your starting safety tandem.

People keep talking about Ginn as a deep threat. He really isn't, or wasn't last year.

I mean compared to smith he was. There really want a consistent one at all last season. Hence why we were around bottom in the league in the big yardage per play department.

It's amazing to me how many people are down on Godfrey. He never got a chance to play behind a front 7 like we had last year.

doesnt really matter. He's always hurt & isn't really consistent + by cutting him we could recoup up to 5 mill. Isn't worth it not to cut him IMO

I agree it makes sense from a cap standpoint to let him go. I'm just saying I think he's a better safety than people around here give him credit for.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
