Panthers attempting to trade Steve Smith.

I just looked my wife in the eye balls and told her I may be emotionally unavailable tomorrow. She asked why, I told her, her reply was "why in the fug would they do that"?

Typical woman. All emotional and knows nothing about the business side of football. You as the man, should be able to pull yourself together, act like the man, and explain it to her.

I also don't see how Hardy is that big of a risk. He has virtually the same skill-set, if not better than, as CJ. Hardy's first couple years weren't special because he was on special teams, the rest of our D stunk, and he always would drop back into coverage as a DE covering TE's. Thats why he had 11 pass deflections two years ago. The fact that his tackles have stayed the same shows he is as good as we think at playing the run, and most DE's are usually feast or famine when it comes to sacks. I am fine with him not having any sacks for 8 of 16 games as long as he is getting QB hits and pressures. My main wish is for him to actually show up in the playoffs, provided we find our way back there in the near future.

Not to nitpick because you are right-on with your evaluation of Hardy everywhere except the playoff comment. Hardy had 6 tackles and 2 QB hits vs the 9ers. Hardly a phantom effort.

Several points of evidence, all of which have already been brought up in this thread and the others about Smith today.

You don't have to believe me and boy I would love to be wrong, but I doubt that I am.

The best pranks get the most people! He may retire, but rest assured Gman has known all along! If we outright cut him then an even bigger, shocking move is on the horizon!

Possibly.  How much do you really know about McNutt?

You realize that we have free agency and the draft before the season, right?  How long would you hang on to a 35-year old WR?

Gettlemen, an expert evaluator of NFL talent, has decided Smitty is not worth the $$.  I tend to agree with him.

Cam to McNutt. . superbowl.

ahhh preseason. I love the budding confidence good sir.

we have no money. trading Smitty gives us even less money.  Cutting Smitty saves money.  Problem is you are making a huge hole on the team even bigger.  You cannot draft a bunch of kids to play OL and WR and honestly expect to have an NFL level offense this year.

Poke fun at people overreacting now. When we still have zero money after Fa and the draft, and holes everywhere on offense, it won't be so much fun to laugh at the over-emotional fans.....

    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
