That's pretty much it. He's confident he can ball out for a year, then ask for a massive long term deal. I don't think that's in line with what Gettleman is trying to accomplish.

 

In the salary cap era, you can only afford to pay but so many big contracts. Obviously Gettleman values the front 4 the most. I have a feeling, his offensive philosophy is similar. When you get a good QB and OL, you can get good production out of cheaper skill players.

I also do not think lafell and Smith on the roster would have held a candle to what he will play with in Indy.
