Is anyone currently on the roster suitable to at least be a stop-gap at LT?

Pretty straight forward question.

I don't know what the rest of the FA will provide but it's a mixed bag of offensive linemen we have at tackle and we need someone to protect Cam's blindside in the worst kind of way.

Nate Chandler (G/T) random factoid: began college at OT (fr), went to TE (so), then to DT (jr-sr)

Byron Bell

Garry Williams

Travis Bond

Andrew McDonald "Player A" in the Incognito/Martin Wells Report

I'm not so sure if there is but was looking to see if these guys had any fans.  I didn't think Chandler did poorly by any means this past season.

Williams might be my choice, but I like the snapshots I have seen of Chandler.  I think Rivera mentioned Bell (he has been worked at LT with the panthers at times in pre season and in practice).  All could be considered "stop-gap."  However, anyone can stop the gap, it is the 2 guys that form it that bother me.
:lolu:

I think we may go with a rookie.  I am not critical of Gettlemen on this situation either.  I think we all expected Gross to return.  Again, the bank account is Hurney's doing, not Gettlemen's.  Nonetheless, he made decisions like franchise tagging Hardy--when he made that one, he did so knowing he was probably not going to find a stud LT in free agency.  (Hardy better get 20 sacks and 75 tackles this year--that is all I am saying about that)

I think, when they said "there are young guys on the roster who need a chance to play", he was referring to the OL and WR depth.  We shall see.

No, and this is my only concern (not even WR or DB concern me). I don't know what GMan plans to do, but on the bright side it's hard to name many Super Bowl winning LT's. If the answer IS on this roster however, I don't think they add their name to that list, if that makes sense.

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
