Want Gettleman out?

The Man was hired to do a job, he is a professional..let him do his job. I'm glad I have some patience and not like so many on here that wants immediate results.

I stand behind whatever he does because I am not a pro, only a fan that wants a team that can go up against any team in the league and provide me with some excitement and confidence that I know we can beat any of those teams if we just play our game and stick to the game plan.

People just don't want to see that he wants to set up the franchise for long term success even if the team has to take step back next year.

Most of our free agents got deals above their production and that's good for them, but it would be a mistake if Gettleman sign them to those contracts. The team has little cap space and Gettleman wants to be out of cap hell in two years to build a long term winning team.

He can't take on long contracts because Cam, Hardy and Luke's contracts are coming up.

He can't sign free agents if they can get more guaranteed money elsewhere. Don't  forget that the team needs 5 million cap space to sign draft picks. Sometimes, you need to take a step back to take two steps forward.

I tracked down information about that publisher. However, he is in high school. Since he is not 18, I will not disclose his home address or phone number. I did, however, send his parents a message on Facebook.

He sounds like the typical new Huddler....which is why this place is steadily and progrssively swirling down the toilet bowl.

That's what happens when your fan base is built by a bunch of corporate but huggers who get all bitchy I they don't get things their way.

Hell at this point I don't want DG gone just so I can see what he does with this mess.

First time in a long time I don't know how good or bad we will be.

As Marv Levy use to say 'if if start listening to the fans you soon will be sitting with them.' Fans can get emotional where a GM has to be take emotion out of it. Look at the Patriots. Probably the most respected NFL franchise. How many players have they let go over the years?

Wow. Lots of time on your hands.

I did, however, send his parents a message on Facebook. I politely informed them that they may want to monitor their child's internet usage to prevent him from going full retard in the future. Also, that there are a lot of idiots out their who will now have access to their families address and such thru their sons internet campaigning.

More like when our fan base (at least the ones in here) are nothing by high school and college kids whose real understanding of football came from playing Madden.

Many of them have never had real jobs....never worried about living within a budget....know abosutely nothing about fiscal responsibility.

This is not directed at you (becuase I know who you are and that you get it).  It is just the whole "me" generation that have infested the Huddle with the "I want it now......and I don't care how we get it" mentality.

They weren't letting players go before their super bowl wins.

Let me know when they throw Tom Brady to the curb.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
