Things Gettleman has said in the past and what we can learn from them...

At this point I don't think there is anything Gettleman can do to piss some of you guys off.

No, if he swallowed a nice tall glass of lye it wouldn't hurt matters.  That way we wouldn't have to put up with the smugness and that soprano-wanna-be accent and attitude.

He doesn't want to flounder around for two seasons after having a good one as the op listed.  No, that part is true, at this rate, we'll be floundering around for at least four seasons at the minimum, until he gets shitcanned.

do you have to do that by crippling the team? because that's exactly what we are doing. is it so important that it has to take up 20% of your cap...and that's just two players? is it worth using 50% of your defensive cap on two players?

pass rush is important, but not that important.

i don't care how elite your pass rush is, they don't catch balls and they don't protect the QBs blind side. we can't afford to pay FAs to even fill out our depleted roster because we tagged hardy. and yes, that is gettleman's fault. he had a choice, tag hardy or fill out the roster and he chose to be without WRs, starting DBs, and an LT all so we could have that elite pass rush. i know he'll get someone eventually to come in and there's the draft, but will he focus in on those three areas in the draft or is he stuck on getting the best player regardless of position?

that remains to be seen.

What we are seeing here is that gettleman has decided to build through the draft to support our core on defense (hardy,Luke, star and kk) and our core on offense (cam,Olsen, kalil). He's cutting the fat, this is what ripping the bandaid off is. Instead of immediate pleasure that might not be as sustainable he has gone for short term ill effects but long term sustainability.

The only way that plan works is if he hits on picks and finds hidden gems and trimming the fat to get our cap in order. Everyone here knows he has a certain knack for that but we won't know until a couple years down the road if that was the right choice.

I've said in another thread, our window hasn't opened yet, cam still hasn't hit his prime. poo this core of our team hasn't hit their prime yet. We were built on an old foundation, old players, old contracts. Gettleman has decided to bulldoze that foundation and make cam and keek the pillars to our success.

We don't know what the future will bring, we don't know what our oline or wr or secondary are gonna be. But gettleman is banking his legacy and job on hardy, cam and luke as the pillars of that foundation. This is essentially a rebuild. It's not fun to watch after going 12-4. In fact it's downright depressing but I hope to god he pulls it off.

I get the frustration when other teams are seemingly offering lucrative contracts to all of our old players and all of the flashy free agents, but I think Gettleman wants to keep cap space open for the cornerstones of our franchise, namely Cam and Luke. I would rather make the tough decisions this year and maybe suffer more this year and be able to keep Cam, Luke, Hardy, and the other important young players.

Jesus dude... take it easy.

And I don't believe you are a clairvoyant so I guess you will just have to wait and see like the rest of us. No one thought we would go 12-4 last offseason either.

Yeah, imagine a football fan getting pissed over football. So childish!!! It reminds of being at BOA and losing a close game and then seeing all the people around me giggle and shrug their shoulders saying "it's only football"

Oh wait...that never happens.

I'm glad you're so superior to emotional football fans, though.

I love me some sports. Just because I don't get pissed doesn't mean I can't be disappointed.

There is not even a fine line between being disappointed, and being pissed. Adults get disappointed. Kids get pissed. See the difference.

Just like your response. It shows how emotional you get. Even when it is just a discussion. Don't worry. You'll grow out of it..eventually.

I find it funny how people are already throwing in the towel this year and claiming that other teams are gonna improve while we will get worse. Let's wait for the draft, the rest of free agency (many key players are undrafted FA's) and even then you cannot predict which teams will succeed or not. Sports Illustrated had us coming last in the NFC last year in their NFL preview while they predicted that the Bucs would get better with Revis (didnt happen) and that Josh Freeman would be a good QB (also did not happen).

Cam, apparently the franchise QB that Gettledouche wants to build around, and now coming off of surgery, will have nobody to block for him and nobody to throw to.  Let Cam get hurt and let the Gettledouche excuse express run wild.

Point of reference too, if Gettledouche is so damned concerned on doing it his way with his people, why the hell did he extend the coach who should have been canned after week five, after only one year of catching lightning in a bottle?

great post OP, that being said: CAN WE PLEASE STOP MOCKING BENJAMIN TO US

The guy looks the part. Maybe that is why so many want him. Even with his lack of even college experience, they still want him.

That said. Every fan with access to the Utube have their favorite players. Happens every year. Some are just more adamant than others.

Semantics. Every hardcore fan I know gets pissed/disappointed/negative emotional response or whatever you want to call it.

I was just pointing out that saying that type of behavior is childish makes you seem haughty and insecure.

I consider myself a hardcore fan. There are plenty of folks on this board that are hardcore fans. That are upset with how things are going this off-season. But they are handling it in a mature manner. Questioning, speculating, and worry in general is how they respond. Not with the behavior too many have shown.

I have no problem with folks getting their ire up. It comes with being a fan. What I do find humorous/childish is when the name calling, and hissy fits come into play. Calling people out for not getting pissed, the Gettledouche comments, the sky is falling, and my favorite calling for heads to roll. All are from emotional overreaction.

Call it what you will. But to me, when you go overboard, it is childish.
