I read an article not too long ago wherein a former GM was interviewed about off-season strategy. It was pretty remarkable because he talked about changing it up from year to year to keep other teams from really knowing what they wanted to do. IIRC teams are allowed to have private workouts with about 30 players. This GM mentioned that some years they'd bring in guys they were actually interested in and some they'd bring in a bunch of guys they'd already eliminated/knew they weren't going to draft so other GMs wouldn't know who they were actually going for.

Last year we drafted 2 out of about 50 we had pre-draft visits with: KK and Kugbila. We brought KK and 26 other players in for private workouts, and Kugbila was not among them.

It'll be interesting to see another year of Gettleman drafts and how these trends start to play themselves out.

How is Boyd a waste of a pick? We need a back up for Cam. Had we drafted Wilson, this wouldn't be an issue but The Seahawks got to him first.

1. Short

2. Only is his deep ball (that I am not too sure about)

He was throwing to Sammy, Dre, and Bryant too

Well we were also one of two teams that worked out star

Yeah, us and Philly.

Gettleman said he knew Star would drop to us if a team in the top five didn't take him (presumably Philly).

One advantage about having a GM who's been around is that he has more connections and probably a better understanding of who does/wants what than the younger guys who have been with one team.

Gettleman also said he knew that the Jets would take Richardson. Said it was a perfect fit. Gettleman knows his poo. It's amazing it has taken this long for him to get the chance to be a GM with this wealth of knowledge that he has acquired.

    • Well he quickly deflected the question about Rico's "almost 7 YPC." He is very polished and he transitioned well to non-answers and side steps. I can see why a guy like him was able to pull the wool over on guys like Tepper.
    • 31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching.  Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close.  *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB.   Drive 1? ZERO carries.  Coaching.  Drive 2 - Rico was playing great.   Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries.  Coaching  Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick  with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going)  Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired.  I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching.  The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D.  It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
    • In the locker room after the Dallas game, multiple  players said FEED him when Canales mentioned Rico stats. That already made me think even the locker room wouldn't care if Rico got the touches rn. This is on Canales indeed and I agree n the Qb take.  We aren't winning  bc of Bryce  but he has been managing it. Had the Jets had Qb aptitude,  we could've probably  lost that game too. All they would've needed is 14 points. Regardless, we got a team  that's being built up and that position needs an overhaul.  If ww lock in to Bryce, it'd be no different  than the 49ers locking into Purdy. Can't do it!
