Billy Turner at 28? --edit (at 60?)

I think we might have to take Turner with our 2nd, not sure he makes it to us at pick #92 (our 3rd). He's still a little raw, definitely not BPA at 28.

With our 2nd, I would just wonder people's opinions on who's a better prospect with our 2nd pick; Ju'Wuan James (yes a RT, but people think he can work at LT, great RT none the less) or Billy Turner?

^ I don't think there's any doubt, when in doubt, the tie goes to the player that played against better competition (who also happened to be a big time recruit to boot).  James.

I'd take James over Billy as well. And i'd love Billy as our 3rd rounder, I just think he has too much upside to make it to 92.

I'm not counting on James to make it to 60 either. Really hate where we pick this year; feels like we';; have to over reach or just miss out on our need positions.

If we truly need a LT that bad, Id go with James Hurst at 28.

I'm speaking more so if our staff deems him LT worth, is it worth it.  I'd probably ask the same thing about Fleming who I really like for us.

I don't know who I'd want for our 1st rounder but I've got the prospects I like for us all over the place: Fuller, OBJ, Turner, Davante Adams, Latimer, Fleming, Abbrederis, Eddie Reynolds, Bucannon, Ladler to name a few haha

I fully believe Turner will be at least a mid 2nd round pick. That being said, I'd feel much better if left with no better choice to trade down a bit if we can find a partner and take him in the early 2nd. I'm sort of a Turner fan boy but even with my homer glasses off I see a guy who has the potential to be a franchise LT.

I get what youre asking, but I dont think our FO will like him enough at 28.

would love to trade down and get him in the early mid 2nd if that nabbed us a 3rd or 4th round pick.

armstead(small school) had way more hype than turner due to running the fastest 40 for an ot of all time and still went into the third...but he came in and performed decent.

Armstead was hyped only because he ran the fast 40. Turner is hyped because he dominated at North Dakota state. Much the same amini had hype because he destroyed the competition at that level.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry for the bump, but I only do one mock a year so I put some research into it, and according to a few searches; Billy Turner gave up a big fat 0 SACKS last year at LT... just saying. Now I know he played at NDSU, but it's damn sure is impressive when you don't get best even once in an entire season at any level.

I wouldn't take him at 28, but I would bet that he will be gone sometime in the second round.

    • no doubt but flip that.   The current system insures that there are "regional" games in the early weeks. maximizing the reach of playoff football.  If all of the WC weekend for a conference took place on the west coast they are reducing the "reach" of their hype machine.
    • Hard to say with London--he never ran--combine or pro day.  Here is what AI says, and it is always 100% accurate: Drake London's 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine was not recorded because he was dealing with a fractured ankle at the time. While he didn't participate in the 40 at the Combine or his pro day, his coach said his 40 time was estimated to be between 4.4 and 4.53 seconds. Some sources also list his 40 time at 4.58 and 4.6 seconds Unless you are running 9s all day, top end 40 speed is rarely reached.  I have always looked at the 3-cone drill.  At his pro day, TMac ran a 6.86--pretty good, actually.  For context, it is faster that Rome Odunze (6.88) who ran a 4.45 40.  Odunze is 6'3" and weighs 216, fwiw, and is considered a very good route runner with no wasted motion.  Mike Evans 3-cone was 7.08.  To put it in a broader context, through 2022, with all NFL prospect 3-cone drills combined, a 6.86 puts TMac in the.89th percentile-  Now consider the fact that he is 6'4" and 220.   We might have something here.  '
