5 1/2 weeks to go....

Benjamin in the 1st if he's there.

If Donte Moncrief is around after that and we don't grab him I'll be disappointed. I see good things with him.

I know, I know...what about OT? I don't give a crap...been wanting WRs on this team since Moose left.

Awesome, we will have all these pretty hood ornaments running around on the field like its a beauty pageant while Cam is getting sacked! Monster OL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the best WR corp

Other teams-

Otah- 'man I'm glad we didn't take him'.

Kuechly- 'damn I wish we'd taken him'.

There's always a certain amount of luck to the draft, no matter how well teams evaluate the prospects. Even if we were lucky last year, Gman did a good job, and I'm just hoping for similar results this time.

One rookie OT a monster OL does not make.  But hey, we can keep doing the same things we have always done and expect different results right? It's not like our OL was anything to gloat about last year and I think we did alright.  This year's OL won't be much different.  If DA was the starting QB I'd worry about sacks but he's not so I'm not.  I want the shiny hood ornaments because shinny hood ornamnets make plays...something we have lacked at WR for damn near a decade minus Smitty.

Oh, I'm not thinking we go one rookie OT! We double dip or even triple dip on OL this year. We could really get better on the OL this year. Take one of the Mathews/Adams/Moncrief in the Second Rd. Sign Avant/Britt

1st-Yankey/Lewan/Richardson

3rd-Turner/Bitonio

5th-Schofield/Urshel

I think this makes us a better team going forward

I want Cooks or Benjamin. Would be pretty upset not getting one of those. Oh and I very very very badly want Matthews but I understand taking him at 28 would be a reach, and he won't fall to us in the 2nd.

Boy, talk about going opposite ends of the spectrum.

I still think trading down and picking up an extra 3rd is a good idea, this draft is very deep.  hell maybe trade our 3rd and the extra 3rd and get back into the 2nd round making it 3x 2nd rounders could definitely find 3 starters and still snag Brandon Colemon in the 4th.

If the teams at the top of the draft pass on the QB's, then one of them might want to jump back into the first to get a QB if they are worried someone they like won't be there in the 2nd, and also to possibly get him with the 5th year option.  Otherwise, I don't see anyone moving up.  But if we do trade back, I don't want to go any lower than early second.  We could still get a quality WR or OT there and the other at 60.  And the extra 3rd (especially since it would be an early 3, so almost a 2nd) would allow us to double dip on one or both of those positions if we want, or pick up a CB, DE, or S.  It probably is the best option...as long as someone we covet doesn't fall.

How so?

One of the biggest guys known for using his length, and one of the smallest guys known for his quickness and acceleration.  Not a judgment on either, I just find it funny that you have them as the top two guys you mention since they are polar opposites.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
