i only wish i could have snagged a guard and an extra OT at some point. but i decided to do BPA, reaching no more than 10 spots. that and i hope Connor Shaw doesnt get drafted so we can sign im UDFA on da cheap. that man can play some ball and wins games with his legs just like a certain Panthers QB we all know and love...

i had to make a choice between Jarvis Landry, Ja'Wuan James, and Antonio Richardson in Rd. 3... it sucked. haha

I probably would have done the same thing.

I'm not a fan of TIny Richardson that high though.  If he were still available in the 5th, maybe.  I would probably wait and just gamble on Seantrel Henderson in the later rounds.

I'd take it, but I'd rather have Billy Turner in the 2nd than Cyrus.  If our team doctors are supremely confident Cyrus' injury problems are a thing of the past, then he would be a great pick.  Seems like a big IF though.  I'd also prefer to see something different with rounds 4-6.  Something like a CB in 4, DE/S/QB/or maybe TE in 5 and 6.

Turner was available in the 2nd but because i was only allowing myself to reach 10 spots from BPA, CJ was the pick. Turner was 50+ spots away though i agree he might be a safer bet. i was using the Walter Football school of thought on Fanspeak and i dont always agree with where WF has prospects listed...

what do y'all think of Colvin? i dont know much about him but i have heard his name thrown about a good bit so i assumed he'd be better than any of the scrubs in the 7th...

Was a 2nd round pick before he tore his ACL in the Senior Bowl. Good hands, good size 6'0 and quick feet. A STEAL in the 7th.

None of your first 3 picks will be there a at those picks.

i think Kouandjio could slip to us in the second. but youre right about Cooks and Landry. i'd be willing to bet Cooks is gone before we can get to him in the first. watching Landry's highlights though, i would be perfectly comfortable drafting him instead in the 1st.

see... when i drafted Landry, i didnt just have to choose between him and a couple OTs. Bruce Ellington, Jared Abbrederis, and Donte Moncrief were all bunched up with Landry. im pretty high on Moncrief, you wont see me complain if we draft him. but i think Landry is the better receiver. and being a Gamecock fan, i know how well Ellington can ball. the man blows the tops off defenses like they slapped his momma. i'd be perfectly comfortable welcoming him into the black and blue aswell. but again, as much as i hate to say it about an LSU player... Landry is better overall than Ellington...

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
