Draft Day Movie

I saw the trailer last weekend and was underwhelmed.  Got me thinking though if I would be pumped up as a Browns fan or if I would like the story to use a fictional Panther team instead.

Anyone else heard anything about the movie?  Seems quiet on talk radio about it also, I would think they would be talking it up.

I am not a Kevin Costner fan.   The plot:  Without having read or seen anything about it---A losing team, a losing coach and a GM struggle to not only save the franchise from losing, but from moving.  It is a team beloved by the blue-collar Dawg Pound fans, but one that has failed miserably.  And little Timmy's dying wish is, if he can't get that kidney transplant, for the Browns to hoist the Lombardi. Kevin Costner plays a wheelin' and dealin' GM, standing on his last leg with his back against the wall, as he navigates through the draft like Blackbeard around the outer banks.  And Like Blackbeard, Costner is an unpopular Swashbuckler, a free-spirited trend setter, working against the grain and all of humanity until his values are realized.  No treasure chest, but he manages to dig a Lombardi from the sand of doubt--a trophy buried by naysayers and skeptics long ago.  And Timmy gets that kidney transplant during halftime of the Super Bowl, where the Browns beat the Seahawks on an incredible play by Costner's controversial #1 draft pick.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
