Getting 8 hrs of sleep/night for more than a week

Have you ever done it?

I tried it a few months back for the first time in my adult life.  It was a revelation.  All aspects of my health and well-being improved.

Trying to get back to it.  Sleep is underrated.

I have always NEEDED at least 8 hours.  It's not quite as bad now as it was when I was younger.

Plus I stay high on caffeine most of the time now.

Same here, for some reason, I feel that I need a little more sleep than a lot of my friends.

If I can get 8 though, it's all gravy.

Sounds like myself.  I am constantly pushing myself to stay awake til 10:30-12 at night just so I can have some fun time with my husband. But between waking up at 5:45, working, homework, intense workouts I feel like i could crash at 9 pm. so I hit the caffeine, not a healthy lifestyle.

Before I had a kid I slept all the time.

8 hrs and I feel sluggish in the morning, I don't want to get out of the bed.

6-7 hrs and I feel good, roll out and start getting ready. I was the kid who got up at 6am every Sat morning to watch cartoons.

Coffee needed in the morning regardless.

I was that kid as well, and it all changed in college when I started staying up all night, whether to do schoolwork or screw around.

I feel sluggish when waking up after 8 hours as well, until I string together a few 8 hour nights, then that goes away, presumably from catching up on sleep.

You shouldn't need coffee.

for all you old people, compromised sleep wrecks havoc on your cortisol levels and can make you as insulin resistant as a type 2 diabetic. It crushes growth hormone and testosterone production.  Don't neuter yourself with a lack of sleep, you have an uphill battle already as it is!

Please remind your husband what a lucky man he is tonight.

Anything under 6 or 5 1/2 hours and I shamble around to so anything. If I get 7 more, I'm good. 8 is ideal.

It's hard to sleep where I live because there's a plane flying over my head every 20 seconds, car alarms/police sirens, street lights that are way too fuging bright, etc.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
