Missed the game sleeping because of being sick. Another win though and checked out the game on dvr and Kon didn't look too bad today.
Anyone know why McNeeley and James didn't play?
He just didn't fit and was promised a few things that just weren't likely or maybe even possible for him to accomplish in the Canes system. Hindsight probably says both teams regret the signing to a degree.
That all being said, the dude played his ass off and could hip check someone into a different dimension.
Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,
Strengths - shooting and IQ.
Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.
Kalkbrenner wins the game with a pretty nice block. Number 4 for the night.
Kon doesn't play because of his ankle injury from the draft process.
McNeeley doesn't look nearly as good but wasn't bad.
I'm not saying he's a bust from that one game (even though I hated the pick) Kon is a backup SG that comes in and stands in the corner and occupies a defender at worst.
I agree even if Kon is the above the team probably ends up with
Kalkbrenner - starting center that needs to add strength to be most effective but has a good skill set.
McNeeley - high upside shooter with good create ability that plays relentlessly.
Kon - Another high upside shooter with less create ability and less motor.
James - high upside 3&D guy
That's not a bad draft at all considering they already had Ball and Miller who can drive and create.
Told everyone that Kalkbrenner was being penciled in as the starter at the 5. McNeely is going to end up ahead of Kon on the depth chart at the 2 before it's all said and done. If ya wanted shooting and offense at the 2, you needed to take Johnson and not Kon. He just doesn't fit in the NBA and I don't understand the draft rankings. I had Kon outside the top 10 around 15th or so.
Kon isn't long enough or athletic enough to make his own shots in the NBA or play adequate defense. He's purely a catch and shoot guy and that's it. Not even a 3&D guy, just a shooter.
If you move Jarvis to line 2 at center then your lines are probably going to be the following.
Ehlers - Aho - Svechnikov (Svech and Ehlers can switch and play either side.
Hall - Jarvis - Stankoven
Martinook - Staal - Blake
Carrier - Jankowski - KK
Could also make the case to switch Stankoven and Blake around.
He's pretty damn good defensively, 55% fo center and still a half point per game player at 36.
98% defensive EV and 61% WAR player if going into advanced stats.
