These guys nail the basics on Bryce/Canales/Carolina
fanpanther replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
I dont think there is a coach alive that could win with BY as his QB in the nfl unless they have a hof running back and oline so byoung never has to throw. -
We know Tepper sometimes watches film with coaches. I'm really reaching here with my tin foil hat, but it's possible DC is trying to get Tepper to give him green light to go get another dude and he is showing him tape where he ran to run b/c Bryce can't get it done.

I’d like some arbitrary changes too. As a treat.

Pretty sure Bryce gets destroyed in an RPO offense but couldnt really do worse than he has been doing. -
I just wanna see Evero fired, frying him seems a bit extreme.

Its not about space. It's dumping long term contracts. They need more rookies to develop on cheap contracts. They do not need to sign FA'S period. If they do it's for scrub roster fillers. They have been paying those scrubs primer starter money on long term contracts. They are going to have to draft their way out the nfl basement and not buy their way out which Tepper and his GM minions have been trying to do. -

They don't need to either. the "blow it up and start again" approach is for teams with expensive QBs who aren't performing. See the Saints last year. You don't need to blow it up when you aren't paying your QB, we aren't in as bad a spot as some think. Figure out QB next year with a combo of a rookie 1st round pick and a cheap vet (Winston) and nail the rest of the draft (big if) and you are right where you need to be. This years draft so far seems to be REALLY good we are getting legit production from all these guys but JHJ so far. We are not in an awful spot. -

I think the front office would have issues if they were hired. And I think the D would be better. They would be more aggressive. offense? everyone going to have a BY issue that isn't some scheme wiz like a Shanahan. He could improve the O. -

Do you think Vrabel or Harbaugh would be doing significantly better than Canales if Bryce was still the QB? -

Tepper has two things that could potentially go for him in a head coach search. 1. Money 2. Pick your QB (if he lets him lol) -
Bruh, there's certainly "cope" going on with Bryce but it ain't coming from the folks saying he ass.

A coach/FO guy with a lot of sway and connections and clearly defined roles and guarantees in the contract. -

I'm honestly excited about Canales next year with his QB. I think there's no doubt now we take a QB first round, there's just too many coming out next year we will get a decent one. I really hope we go get Winston tho to start, he will make a ton of mistakes but we could at least see the full offense. That being said, all bets off if a team makes a dumb move and a really good coach becomes available. -

Just do your job. Horn, Jackson, Chuba and Brown are about the only ones who understand what that means. No amount of practice will help a quitter. -
I'm not out on this qb class as others are. There's at least 3 guys who have a shot in the nfl. It doesn't mean I see them as a sure thing but this class is better than the Pickett draft class.

Ok, the question then is: Can David Tepper prove to any qualified candidates at GM or HC that the Panthers are an organization worth working for? How does Tepper accomplish this? -

I missed that. I tried to view it but for some reason my ancient iPad was only showing me some guy with hair. Did he buy Hair Club for Men recently? edit: okay found it and played it lol. Btw he looks like his back hurts the way he is walking, might be all that weight he has put on. -
I'm glad we didn't take that approach going into '03.
-
It won't improve. It will look better for a few quarters only by throwing deeper interceptions until Andy inevitably crashes.
-
Looking at the numbers (plus Carolina being able to move the ball across midfield before shitting out), it's hard to believe the score was 13 - 42. Any time the offense got across midfield the clamps got put on. Situational football was a nightmare yesterday. Dragged ass (and got asses dragged) in all three phases of the game like what they had done to Atlanta the week before.

I can believe that we have good weeks at practice. The problem is that it's ass vs. ass. Our offense is ass and our defense is ass. When we have to face outside competition that isn't ass or at least isn't as mega ass as we are then it's a problem. -

No I'm saying they can't afford it. The team has 10m in cap space in 2026. If the roll over everything, they'll have 28m in cap space and need around 11m for draft picks. They can't afford to trade Horn or Moton at all and trading Brown would leave them very little space. -
Maybe, but we're still left with the same choices regardless of who is making them.
-
They will stick it out with who they have now this season. They have no other choice. Next year this group may not be here to select the next group of qb's to battle with.
