  1. Past hour
  2. Sounds like Cinci fans said the guy is washed up. If he can't get on the field for their terrible defense, I'd rather not have him here
  3. With Bryce's skills/limitations AND the oline injuries their only chance to win is dominant run game, good D , small ball it/hopefully some really good PA/bootleg/misdirection. Rico's the man...treat him like prime Arian Foster and let's roll
  4. If they don't figure it out they are going to lose those games. Right now they have a real shot against teams the cannot stop Rico. But if they do then it's going to be up to Young to step up his game. I think everyone and their grandmother knows that by now.
  5. This past week with a beat up line that was the game plan, so brining up Micah zero pressure is a moot point, we didn’t give the packers pass rush an opportunity to ruin the game.
  6. I don't look at any particular individual metric, more the bigger picture. If you're near the top of the league in most metrics you're probably playing pretty well. If you're near the bottom in most you're probably ass. The tougher ones to sort out are the guys who are a mixed bag.
  7. Yea I dont think it's feasible with Bryce. Oddly similar to Cam's strength after his shoulder issue. I think we can work around it as it just is what it is at this point though. We'll 100% never see Bryce throw a PJ Walker type Hail Mary. But we can sustain 20's (anything in the 20's)... maybe mid 30's. Anything after that, we might as well kneel. Sidenote: Canales needs a Darnold-esque qb tbh.. closest we'll see of that is probably Dalton's Raiders game last season.
  8. I mean, it's pretty simple. Canales is adapting based upon the limitations of his QB.
  9. It was a legit GWD, unlike quite a few I take issue with. This was that 2 minute, last possession, win it or go to OT on the road. I”ll give him that one he earned it. Even if it was a long FG. Brady beat our asses in the SB doing about the same thing after all. But OTOH itwas basically a December type of football game where the QB was minimized. He didn’t have to perform another big part of quarterbacking, it was off the table. That is fine for that particular day but what’s gonna happen when they keep crowding gvthe LOS with defenders and he doesn’t throw it over their heads? We don’t want to find out, but we will if he can’t get the other part of the QB’s job together.
  10. He's still human. When you go out and fail over and over again it's going to impact you. And yeah, I absolutely think Fields looks like (and talks) like a guy who is really struggling with his confidence as a player and for good reason.
  11. I've never contributed the W/L record to a single player in football. Its a team sport and good players are on bad teams all the time. There's also bad players on good teams. With qb's I look at td/int ratio and that's about it. Completion percentage is effected by too many variables to rely on.
  12. Sure but then you also have to consider his overall record...
  13. I mean, he's a professional athlete. What you think as a fan vs what he should think as a player are completely different. Being bad doesn't mean you should lack confidence in yourself, and really that is true in all forms of life. Do everything you want to do with confidence. Justin Fields sucks, but does he ever play like someone who doesn't believe in his own abilities? Obviously you need more than confidence to be a high-level NFL player, and Bryce will never be that. But he could still create 2-3 extra plays a game if he allowed himself to play more "free" like he did in the second half of last season. The fact he refuses to use his legs to pick up yards nowadays hurts this team. Simple things like that would go a long way for us, even if not for him.
  14. I've always thought it odd that the QB is the only guy in the roster who carries a record. If a RB puts up 1200 yards but the team sucks then everyone still says the RB had a good year. If a QB puts up good numbers put the D is atrocious and the win loss record isn't great due to that then the narrative is that the QB can't win. Now that we're finding a way to win with suddenly dominant D and dominate running game people are trying to shift to this "Bryce is just a winner" narrative while he puts up bottom of the league numbers while near the top of the league in turnovers. It's just funny to watch.
  15. You mean broken thumb and all ?
  16. Most people here did enjoy the game and the win. But the day is Tuesday and we have PFF grades and the tape is out and has been looked at and we are on to the next week. This is a critical stretch for the franchise, he has 8 games basically to show he has more than we have seen. At the end of that awaits a crossroads. It is absolutely valid to have these discussions. IMO.
  17. I mean, he'd have to be delusional to still have a high degree of confidence in his abilities on an NFL field. When he tried to make a confident downfield throw this week it ended in a god awful throw that was easily picked. He can take shots downfield but they have to be the perfect opportunities. If the pocket is muddy at all he can't go downfield. Just don't even try.
  18. If you are going to give qb's a stat that includes teams wins and losses you have to give him the W.
  19. I’m sure they know it. I’m also fairly certain Tepper told them he doesn’t give a poo.
  20. Maybe soon, in the game threads, we'll stop seeing "the Panthers suck and *insert name* is an ass" and delclaring the game over after the opposition scores during the first 5 minutes of the game.
  21. If I had to make a guess I would say that the wind had more to do with throwing too much last Sunday. It cost both qb's with turnovers and Canales was smart enough and lucky enough to have a run game to lean on. Now in games prior to that I cannot say.
  22. Yeah, I am not sure how the backup QB bar got moved to Bryce. It's very strange.
  23. The main issue is Bryce Young. Not the only issue, but certainly the one who has played the biggest role in our lack of a vertical pass game. What is frustrating is that while I don't think he will ever be an Allen or Mahomes in that department, obviously, he is more capable than what he's shown (which isn't saying a whole lot). But he refuses to play like someone who trusts themselves. While he is better than he was as a rookie, the best he's ever looked IMO was the second half of last year. And I would say it all the time in the GameDay Threads - he had a confidence to him, a freedom to his play-style, that was so clearly playing a role in his improved play. But this year he is back to playing so rigid. Case in point: how has he not eclipsed 10 rushing yards since Week 1? He averaged 26 rushing yards over his last 8 games last year. That might not seem like a lot, but it matters and it is reflective to how freely he was willing to play last year. It is even more obvious when you see it in person. He doesn't trust his instincts. No doubt there are physical limitations at play, but I think that is one thing he really lacks. Trust in himself.
  24. I kept waiting for him to explode into a cloud of dust when he got hit.
