I had him as a hopeful 4th rounder, but he might not be there.

The Bryce question means a lot this offseason with so many positives in place stability in the system only thing I can think of would be Bryce being a mini workout warrior this offseason to bulk up as much as possible. Not body building strength just ripped up a little basically finding his NFL body. I hope he comes back like he’s been in the gym with a purpose.

To the best of my knowledge, he is the only one we have talked to...he can run the full route tree. They showed us their "type" of TE when they showed interest in Njoku. I think they would rather have a veteran. Over the past 2 years, they have done some "bottom fishing" for a gem on day 3 (Sanders, Evans)

One-year deals for the bulk of these guys means they are purely placeholders. Phillips and Lloyd are the only two the front office wanted here long term, meaning we got a bunch of rentals in FA for next season. It's like shopping at the Good Will store for a Halloween costume only to donate the items on November 1st. -

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/48198142/college-basketball-invitational-abruptly-cancels-2026-tournament And thats how I found out that there was an actual thing called the College Basketball Invitiational tournament. LOL Seriously, did anyone even know this existed? Everyone knows about the NIT (Not Invited Tournament), but did anyone realize there was a third tier conference for teams that even got snubbed by the NIT?

thx. other than the potential for 1 year players to show off their impact and potentially make more $$, are there any other upsides for a player viewpoint to want a 1 year contract? -

BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I find myself flipping between the worst case scenario of Bryce either playing just mediocre enough for our decision makers to justify giving him a contract extension in their eyes because they want to justify drafting him. Or Bryce going back to playing poorly and us having no one else to fall back on because Pickett might be decent for one or two games but there's no one else and our locker room starts to get ugly because we went all in with our salary cap and guys careers are on the line. This scenario which IMO is the higher probability given our schedule and the amount of tape out there on Bryce is why I say if we can trade down and acquire a few more mid or late round picks we should draft a developmental QB. Not looking for a guy to be the savior but someone with the necessary physical tools and who could actually run a QB sneak. But we'll just have to see how it shakes out. I just want a competitive team but the last thing I want is the season to fall apart because we once again threw our arms up in regards to the QB room. -

^This. Rico was dynamite when we needed it last season, but not enough to keep but it massively upped his earning potential. It was a win-win for both sides. And he was there to cover the hole left by the injury to another RB, and hopefully his release to free agency means there's good news for us on the way. These new ones give us the opportunity to do that again, on the offensive line and elsewhere. We've got some long term question marks here and there due to injuries and age, and these players have a chance to up their value on the open market or settle down with us if the opportunity arises. And none of it ties us down with dead money down the road if it doesn't work out. And we've been in dead money hell for a decade now. Lease the ones you like, buy if you fall in love. -
Tight End: The Need is Bigger than We Think
firefox1234 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Our red zone offense was excruciatingly painful to watch last season. A half decent TE would do a lot to change that. -
We have a Vezi and it’s not who we thought!

The 3rd through the 5th rounds are where the value is if we are interested. I really don't like the idea of Sadiq. While he's the top of the group, it's a depth year for the position. He would have been TE3, at best, in last year's group.

I’ve kind of soured on Woods and Banks. Give me Kayden McDonald but if possible id prefer if we trade to the mid 20s. -

I hear you and I have said the same thing at times, but blanket statements are accurate part of the time at best. I have also coached kids who had the "tools" but they were slow and unproductive on the field--and a few adjustments to the scheme or teaching techniques, and the light comes on. We call them "late bloomers." Based on my limited experience, it should be called "coaching." As a former coach, if you gave me kids with the tools and I could not get them to perform at the level of their ability, then I have failed. The coaches know this, so their timetables to win may be shorter than the time they have to develop a player--I think a lot of talent goes down the disposal, which is why the success rate for drafted players is so low. In my view, based on my career as a professor and researcher, my job is to produce successful people for the workplace. I use data to identify central problems and I use my relationships with my students to strengthen weaknesses. I have a limited amount of time to do this before a decision is made about their development. In this case, I would look at the variables (data and the situational influences unique to this individual that may have stunted growth) and not the ineffective player as the center of the problem. The team has already interviewed him, talked to his college coaches, measured him, etc. So I would minimize the assumption that the kid is the problem and look at his system of support and teaching strategies. Nobody wants to admit THEY might be the problem. To blame a first-rounder for failing, you have to admit either you did not properly identify the prospect's potential (which is your job) or you were unable to prepare that prospect (with all the tools that got him the job) to succeed (also your job). So are we going to blame the 24-year-old kid with all the tools to succeed for sucking or are we going to take responsibility for his success as his mentors and teachers? -

i was hoping they might bring robinson back but he went to the darkside. They will need to sign a free agent as Evero does not like to start rookies. -

Flexibility. If they don’t work out we simply walk away. If they look great we have the first crack at extending them. -

was curious about why all the one year deals. Does that help or hurt for next season in terms of resigning? it should help with the cap, I'd expect. -
The team store should re-release Dan Morgan's jersey.

This thread makes me miss my "old" Mitchell and Ness Pro Bowl jerseys I had of Sam Mills and Kevin Greene from 1996. Someone broke in and stole them aa few years ago. I've not been able to find / replace them. -
I am sorry. I must have missed it. I did not recall seeing one (I was very swamped the first week of March) and I did not search to see if it had been shared. I always appreciate your contributions. I would have simply added this spreadsheet to your thread. Either way, thanks to you, we now have a cornucopia of tracked visit intel. We are blessed with knowledge and insight!!
