What’s the narrative you’re deducing from my posts? I’m genuinely curious. -
Yep, choosing a narrative. LOL This is how you end up singling out players from over 20 years ago who were single handedly making us relevant at the time. Stop being dumb.

Should Dave Canalas be on the HOT seat??
outlaw4 replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Super Bowl winning coach might be the only guy who has guaranteed job security for next season. Otherwise, you could go 0-17 and somehow keep your job or lose in the Divisional Round and get fired. It really comes down to the specific circumstances and the owner. That said, definitely would not want to be Aaron Glenn. Being the HC of a bad franchise is a perpetual hot seat because management is going to be impatient and/or incompetent. -

The player I’m singling out sets the tone for everyone else. Just because “everyone else is” doesn’t excuse Caleb. It actually makes it worse as he should be the one pulling everyone out of that. And thats my issue with him. Incredibly skilled, marginally aggressive on both ends. A lot of this is Hubert. If Wilson played for Calipari or Izzo he’d be averaging 30 and 12. He’s that good, unfortunately he’s also that unmotivated. -
Foxy looking kind of anorexic.

Should Dave Canalas be on the HOT seat??

It would be a shame if Canales’ HC opportunity was tied solely to Bryce’s success or failure. It’s like summiting Everest with an asthma inhaler in place of oxygen. Or something. At the same time, I was thinking the other day about all the people talking about how Seattle got the great young coach, and the same for Jacksonville, or Ben Johnson, and thinking well you folks are not considering why we ended up with a Dave Canales in the first place. It was not all because they didn’t want to work for Tepper. -
Bills Joe Brady add a former NFL Coach John Fox to his staff The Bills announced their full coaching staff on Friday, Brady’s first since being hired as the team’s new coach. It included one notable name, as former NFL head coach John Fox is joining the staff as a senior assistant coach. Fox, 71, coached the Panthers, Broncos, and Bears during his lengthy head coaching career, going 133-123 overall. His last job came in 2023, when he was a senior defensive assistant for the Detroit Lions. Presumably, Fox will not have a sideline role for the Bills. He will be present as a sounding board and guide for Brady, who is dealing with all that comes with transitioning from the role of offensive coordinator to head coach. I believe he is just be nature of being in year 3.

The whole team did. The overall effort was pathetic. Singling out any individual is just choosing a narrative.

Chances are Bryce Young does indeed get another coach fired. -

Were his feet hurt too? Cause he got beat to the rim on horribly lazy defensive efforts multiple times in the second half. He was also dreadful in the first half before he got hurt. He’s a great player, I don’t dislike him, I actually am a big fan. But there is no denying he becomes complacent during long stretches in a lot of games. -

Your last sentence…. if you watched that McAfee interview with Tepper - that seat is safe. Safer than with the fans. - Yesterday

Who is going to take a shot at Malik Willis
cranky replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
So Willis had a good game against a poor defense and all of a sudden he is worth 50 million and is guaranteed to be better than Young. LOL I know he looked good in the 3 games he started, and I think he will have success long term, but anyone signing him up for a long term contract for 50 million is taking a huge risk. -

Is he really though? Rivera was past his prime and probably shouldn't have even started 2019 so his firing wasn't really unexpected or unwarranted. Rhule lasted two and a half years which was about one year too long in my opinion. Bringing him back that third year certainly wasn't impulsive and I would say Tepper was more patient than he should have been. Wilks finished out that third season and did pretty good but most everyone could see he really wasn't anything more than an intern HC. Bringing him back was not the long term answer so not bringing him back was the correct call. Hiring Reich was a mistake from the beginning and he recognized that fairly quickly. I am sure he knew he was going to catch a lot of sh*t for firing him so quickly ( and boy did he ) but it was absolutely the right thing to do given everything that was going on. The firing may have looked impulsive, but I think it was him recognizing he had royally f*ck up and just dealt with it instead of letting it fester. That brings us to Canales. 2025 was only his second season and yet he delivered 8 wins and the NFC South title. And while that might not sound great, given the lack of talent and cap space they started with, it's a strong step in the right direction. I couldn't imagine Tepper not being pleased with their progress given the crap the Panthers' have been though under his ownership. -
At the end of the day we're all holding our breath in anticipation waiting to see if Bryce Young will look and play horribly to begin his fourth season just as he has in his first three seasons. No cherry picking obscure metrics or screaming about haters will change that.

Cam seems to be eager to put the onus moreso on himself and that speaks to his personal growth as a man. He even mentions that maybe he was too hyperfocused on wins and losses which is crazy to consider when you account for the fact that our culture was so pitiful when he arrived and 89 is supposed to be considered the ultimate competitor. While Steve leans on his unspecified trauma as his reasoning for how he was toward a rookie QB and other people in general which makes no sense whatsoever considering this is the guy who physically attacked his own teammates in his younger years. The only positive if you could consider it so that I'm getting from Steve Smith in this convo is the fact that he is actually willing to speak about it with Cam. But he does not seem to want to recognize what he threw away at that time and the cost to both himself and the franchise.

Coker is 6'3" 210, 10 inch hands A little bigger than the average WR.
-
He certainly seems to have a really good mindset for his age and the circumstances of his career trajectory early on. Here's to hoping he can carve out one of the better long term Panthers WR careers especially considering he was undrafted.
-
I noticed that too.. I could imagine that there would be soma animosity when a guy gets drafted in the 1st round, gets given all the opportunities and yet you out play him at every opportunity. Hopefully this lights a fire in both guys.

If that's how it went down then I've lost what relatively minimal semblance of respect I had for him as a highly notable player in franchise history. Because that whole situation is what led to him being so outrageously abrasive toward the team and specifically led to the "blood and guts" game in which he went out of his way above and beyond to portray himself as someone who was discarded like trash in the street in a callous manner by the team that drafted him while gleefully embarrassing us. When in reality it was he who wanted out from the jump in the midst of us drafting two of the greatest players in franchise history in consecutive years in Newton and Kuechly. We probably win the Super Bowl if he had kept his head together. I can't look at the guy the same anymore if this is true. Unconscionable selfishness. Stay a Raven.
