There doesn't seem to be anything about Luke to suggest he wants to coach in the NFL.

Very intrigued how Morgan and Canales handle the offseason
LinvilleGorge replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't say very likely but I think OT is on the table at #19. You don't do anything with Icky right now. You just let him rehab, then likely start the season on PUP and go from there. -

I am in favor of re-signing Cade Mays but it seems like he will test free agency. Re-signing Nijman is the top priority. -

Sucks for Icky but given the seriousness of the injury it’s very likely the first round pick will be a tackle. If the Panthers re-sign Icky for anything other than a reasonably priced prove-it contract after his option year is up, it’ll be a horrendous decision. -

Way too many of y'allare panicking about Icky. He holds no cards right now. His agent knows it. He's under contract next year with the 5th year option and is in no place to demand a huge deal rehabbing from an injury with a very spotty recovery history for NFL players. Any deal that would be inked right now would be far off his healthy market value. What's he gonna a do? Hold out and forego $17M after suffering a potential career altering or even ending injury? There's no pressing need right now to do anything long-term with either Icky or Coker. Chill. The Panthers hold all the cards currently with both these situations. -

Here is what I think. 1. Not sure about the contract with Ickey, but I would let him walk if he wants big money, sign him to a back load contract to play here in the future--as a guard. I am guessing that knee would be better at G than LT. Draft a LT and re-sign Nijman and BC if possible. 2. I love Coker, but the injury history is not a deterrant. I think we need a #2--Coker is an ideal #3 imo. He can play #2 for 2026, but whatever you do, you sign him NOW. He should not demand elite money--3 TDs for 395 yards is not negotiation gold. Lock him up now on a contract that is aligned with that level of production. 3. XL--this is an unpopular opinion, but we knew XL was developmental when we drafted him. Maybe play him at the #3. Financlally, you keep him on the roster and you hope to unlock his potential in year 3. I am upset with him, but he has talent. Can he put it together? Unlikely, but we cant improve every position that we need to upgrade. 4. the OL is interesting. First, our guards are contractually locked in until 2027; moving either is not worth the cost. Extend them if anything. I do not see Ickey coming back as an OT--but maybe a G. We must draft a LT and C or RT. Re-sign Nijman and BC. We must also bring in or draft a starting Center. I am concerned that they re-sign Corbett late in free agency, when his price drops. I think we will draft one. (In other words, sign your depth--BC, Nijman, and maybe even Corbett and Cuhran. Draft a center and OT. 5. Sign a FA (Chenal) and add ILB depth later in draft. Re-sign Rozeboom (reasonable contract--2-3m) 6. This is why I do not believe in giving RBs second contracts--they rarely play up to them. Nonetheless, Chuba is a leader, we have Entienne, and Brooks is going to give it another try. Dowdle is gone. What is not mentioned is the need for an edge--imo, we have to big edges that can hold the edge (Jones II, Scourton) Princely and a free agent pass rushing specialist (Reddick?) should make edge better. -

1. Nothing. He's under contract. He may have been up for an extension before the injury but now you sit and wait it out. 2. He's an ERFA. Tender him at a high level for little money and then he's a RFA after next season where we have the right to match any offer he fields. Zero pressure to do anything here long-term. 3. I'd probably take literally any trade offer made. If there aren't any you bring him to camp to compete and see what happens. 4. I honestly expect an OT in the first 3 rounds with Moton's age and possible degenerative knee issues combined with Icky's serious injury. We have both immediate and long-term need there. A stopgap bandaid vet feels necessary either way. 5. Sign a legit vet (Chenal). Re-sign Rozeboom at backup contract levels. Then LB is high on the list in the draft. 6. Yes. He looked good down the stretch. I'd always have a late round RB as a potential pick though. It's top of the list for positions where you can find surprising value deep in the draft. Plus I just want to stack talent there so I don't have to pay vets. RB is a draft 'em and let somebody else pay 'em position unless you have a truly elite talent there. Don't pay "good" ones. -

1.) Resign BC and Yosh. Find a short term answer in Free Agency. 2.) Give Coker a 2 year contract and see how he responds. Something like 9 mil for 2 years. Big deal follows that. We just dont wanna have to pay TMac and Coker in the same offseason. 3.) From everything I've heard, he's getting another season minimum. If he doesn't show up I could see us getting rid of him during the '27 offseason. We're probably holding out hope that he can spontaneously perform like he did in college again. 4.) If I had to guess.... this is about where the 3rd round of the draft comes in. Cade was cool but we could do better. 5.) Prediction: we'll take a shot at a splash signing in FA like Llyod or Bush but have Dean and Chenal on speed dial incase it falls out. I also think we might end up double dipping in the draft. I wouldn't be too mad at a trade down and grabbing CJ Allen late first and Tuarean York(sleper) in the 4th. If we stay at 19 and Styles is gone I think we're going Offense at 19. Wouldn't be the smartest move imo but I could see us grabbing Lemon, KC Concep, or Saddiq. 6.) Chubba could still carry the bulk of the load but my gut is telling me if Brooks can get back to atleast 75%, he'll end up a better version of Rico. That's still the ? tho. Etienne's work ethic will keep him on the roster but it wouldn't surprise me to us draft one late and bring in a FA option. We've always stacked rb's under Canales. -

I like Kon a lot, and I was completely wrong about him. But Flagg is a better fit on any and every team in the NBA if you're comping him to Kon. -
Yeah, sorry. $10-12M AAV.

Not really the same production when you account for playing time. Coker has slightly better production playing half the snaps of XL. I'm a big fan of Coker - he just needs to stay healthy.

1. This is a really tough hand. Comes down to what Ickey's agent pushes for. If they insist on that big contract he would've likely earned before injury... we cut our losses now. 2. His production doesn't really warrant a huge contract. If he does get one, it's likely one we could afford. 3. Unless we get Jerry to bite again, I doubt anyone would want to trade anything for XL. His future is dependent on him getting better and/or future late-round/UDFA guys taking his spot. 4. I'm very much into drafting OL's every single draft. Ideally, a new LT/C but any Big Ugly with starter potential is welcome, especially if it helps us replace someone a lot more expensive. 5. Lean towards using draft picks. 6. Can't put all our eggs in the Brooks basket. Personally, if we get another back with a late round draft pick or as a UDFA, I'd like someone with a good set of hands. -
Joseph Vincent Flacco. Find anyone who knows how to play LB. Rozeboom led the universe in missed tackles. Find anyone who knows how to play TE. The entire position blows donkey dicks. Get a kicker who is reliable past 50 yards. This is the new NFL, kicking 50-60 yarders is expected. Try not to look like monkeys fuging a football during the draft. That puts us in a spot to compete for the division with Atlanta.

Panthers have a Jalen Coker problem.
fieryprophet replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce's contract has zero influence on Coker, period. If you think otherwise than you are just revealing your ignorance on how all of this works behind the scenes; QB contracts are basically a different tier that can also be utilized to reallocate resources when needed via restructures (see Brees and Saints.) The ERFA status simply gives the team a "declare your interest in keeping this player" due date, that is all. The numbers are irrelevant for any long-term plans, they are just a placeholder until both sides agree to a new contract if so desired. - Yesterday

I hate the new format. The old games were easy cash on the overs once the players stopped competing.

Long offseason so I’ll give my thoughts: 1) just gotta see how it plays out. Obviously no contract this year now and there’s no rush. Just gotta wait and see how he heals. 2) I could see us getting another WR in FA but think they’d be ok rolling with tet coker and xl next year. No reason at all to pay Coker now unless they’d take a 2-3 year at $7M 3) trade and if no takers than he’s our 3 next year 4) think Nijman is our LT this year and they will use Corbett or BC + draft 2 OL 5) Dean in FA is my preference. Think also in play for one of our first 2 picks. 6) yeah he looked fine to end the season. Obviously we’re guessing but the staff knows where Brooks is. He’s either our 2 or if Rehab is not going well we roll with Etienne and a PS guy as our 3 is my guess -

1. Icky is not getting a big contract after that injury, hes not playing at all next season. He will probably get a 1 year prove it deal afterwards from someone. 2. Coker is the #2 and a ERFA we dont have to pay him much of anything. Also we paid Horn and he has been hurt a ton more. 3. Trade if the price is right or just keep him as a 3/4 4. We need a LT and C, will need a RT soon. Need to replace Hunt soon as well. 5. Draft and sign. 6. Chuba never been more than an average back, not sure whats being banked on. -

1. What do you do with Icky? Likely a scratch for next season and due a massive contract (if healthy) 2. Coker has the talent for 2nd WR, but do you pay a guy who gets hurt that premium? I think hes your number 3 simply due to risk. Will the Panthers seek another vet or go surprisingly high in the draft? 3. Do you give X more feature time? Or cut bait now? 4. Planning the long term/short term on OL 5. How do you address LB? 6. Do you bank of Chuba bouncing back? These moves will determine if Dan's can maintain a consistent playoff level team.
