  1. Past hour
  2. If we were going to go for a new coach, then I'd like to see someone from a proven system with a track record. I'm also with @MHS831 in that firing Canales before the end of the season is not a great look. He's not been perfect. The meta storyline for the Panthers organization is that Dave Tepper is a meddler, impatient and a douchebag. All of his actions have proven them true which makes people with head coaching buzz either wait or take other jobs. I think letting Dave start the next season on a Matt Rhule kind of leash isn't the worst idea. I expect a new DC, someone who is a leader of men type with a good 3-4 scheme. I think Evero is a good communicator, I enjoy his pressers, despite the terrible results of his Defenses. I know he's limited with his LBs, but that's a GM problem. The Panthers have to start hitting on draft picks. That's the worst thing we've done for the past 5 years. Four players from the 2022-2023 drafts are still on the roster... That's forcing us to spend our money on pricey FA (with the poo team tax) instead of keeping guys around on rookie deals, freeing up cash. The 2024 Class isn't the worst: Round 1, Pick 32: WR Xavier Legette, South Carolina - Still on the team...young/old WR. Let's see Round 2, Pick 46: RB Jonathon Brooks, Texas - probably the worst pick, maybe he'll recover??? Round 3, Pick 72: LB Trevin Wallace, Kentucky - 2nd worst pick, needs to improve Round 4, Pick 101: TE Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas - Starting TE in year 2, not bad. Sucks he's hurt Round 5, Pick 157: CB Chau Smith-Wade, Washington State - Pick 6! Solid nickle Round 6, Pick 200: DL Jaden Crumedy, Mississippi State - Late round flyer - depth/bottom of roster Round 7, Pick 240: LB Michael Barrett, Michigan - Traded for Mike Jack = best pick of the draft lol 2025 - Let's see how the season plays out. So I think I'm in the "let's be patient" with the coaching and the management. Maybe Tepper has turned a new leaf. If Bryce sucks the rest of the year, we let Dave & Dan pick their own QB and see what happens. Tepper looks like he's learned to own, and maybe we lose some of that stigma.
  3. I mean, sure. Assembling a roster of All-Pros sounds like a good idea. It's just tough to do.
  4. Did the zest (lol, Jets) fire him or something?
  5. I will be shocked if Horn takes reps on the outside. Hunter Renfrow is big compared to Horn.
  6. We will trade him and he’ll become serviceable elsewhere at least as a backup. Meanwhile we will pick someone worse because management has no clue how to choose QBs
  7. Legette can do it too I think and with him and Tet, they have to pay attention. Horn, we really ha en’t seen and while maybe he does run some fly stuff and get a shot, I have this picture in my head of him evading a tackle on a short gain and taking off with it. Also on this XL thing, there is a chance that he comes back wanting to prove something (and I know what people are gonna say he will prove, lol, but I am hoping it is in a good way).
  8. Agree. Agree. Agree. Horn should get snaps based on being the only WR that can actually stretch the field and pressure safeties with speed.
  9. I get it. But where is it written that a stout defensive team can’t have a great offense? And where is it written that a stout running game is worthless? It is still football. And the teams, you see the defenses got lighter to get faster, and then you see a pound it out attack can defeat that. And when you get down to the end of the year the best teams are led standing and generally the defense has a say in the outcome. The running game has a say. If you don’t have that your high flying offense might get grounded. That has it changed that much. I don’t know how to formulate thoughts into the propers all the time but I’ll punt that above and say it this way: In a way, our experience reflects the saying “perfect is the enemy of good”. We went for perfect and became horrible when good was in our grasp. What would you rather watch?
  10. I just can’t stomach going through another HC search. Can someone just call me when the Panthers are relevant again. This is so depressing.
  11. Like playing Super Tecmo Bowl growing up and the entire D just gang tackles your ball carrier immediately because they correctly guessed your play call. LOL
  12. This week should actually be fun. Now that we have gotten past the acceptance stage on another season, we can just watch the young guys play and develop and not worry about the outcome
  13. IMO the NFL has shown they'll keep tweaking the rules to benefit offense. They want high flying high scoring games because that style of football draws more casual viewers. That's not to say you can't still win with stingy defense and good enough offense but you have to realize that the NFL will be actively working against you from a rules standpoint.
  14. At the time it was honestly the right call, he had been injured constantly and a rebuilding team didn't need an injured huge money RB. Just per usual we squandered the draft picks. Honestly, I'd rather see CMC competing on a contender than toiling away here ending up on IR late into every season because he's banged up and we have nothing left to play for so let's save the wear and tear.
  15. What people can’t seem to learn is, the pendulum always swings back the other way. What is old, becomes new and vice versa. I mean, wait long enough, bell bottom jeans come back. I like to zig when everyone else is zagging. That is how trends get started. Don‘t follow, do what you know you can do and do it better than everyone else. You will be fine.
  16. Get ready for a lot of the electric slide from Rico.
  17. Such an easy thing for him to pull off and make money on. Not a good precedent to set when looking towards thr future.
  18. I like Kubiak simply because I’ve always wanted us to try a shanahan/kubiak style offense but I don’t follow coaches and who’s supposedly ready or not
  19. They said he was going to be active. The running back thing, we are going to miss Chuba pass blocking I think but maybe Etienne can show some moves. I believe he has some. Also I said this elsewhere but the downfield shots vs the 3rd and long handoffs rather than trusting the QB that was complained about here, was addressed in an Athletic article by Person. With Legette back I am expecting some Russel Wilson type downfield prayers to be tried this week.
  20. we spent a decade basically wanting to get away from the brand of football that Fox/Rivera offered us......and now we would sell our right pinky toe to get back to that (which was Wilks) if there was ever an example of the grass isn't always greener.....
  21. You can’t fire a coach this early again Ron Rivera with Cam Newton and Luke was 2 and 8 at one point during his second year. You have to let the whole season play out and see how things go towards the end and if Bryce ain’t it, he ain’t it and Dave will get his chance to get his own quarterback.
  22. Horn is going to come if for some telegraphed schemed up plays where everyone will know they are going to attempt to give him the ball
  23. I think we were both Wilks advocates, and yeah. Except for the couple good games Andy played and the one standout Bryce game last year, it is the best the team has looked in years. I mean we’re we gonna be champs? No. Were the top teams a lot better than we were? Yep. It was something to build on and we threw all of the things we had in front of us, cap space, draft picks, etc, and Sam is better than a Bryce will ever be, we threw it all away to chase a trend. Not to Set a trend but just to be in with the cool kids. And proved we had no idea what we were doing.
  24. Not sure if Miami having a bad D really is going to matter though. Cards, Patriots, and Jags all have worse pass defenses to date (but I do think Miami has secondary injuries).
