Build the damn team, this team is so qb thirsty it’s been draining the talent around the team for sometime now if Morgan can’t draft well replace him, Canales should also be on the hot seat too. Find a philosophy or identity, build it through the draft and free agency, then go QB hunting we been ass backwards as a franchise since 2020

I also really have a tough time imagining LaNorris Sellers asking to be taken out of a game because he's tired.

Agreed! If by downfield, you mean throwing the ball 20 rows deep on 4th and 1 or throwing the ball way out of bounds on open wheel routes -
Bryce Young is a problem — what would you do if you were Dan Morgan?
OldhamA replied to OldhamA's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can't watch 16 more games of this - you're literally not even trying to win games and what are you actually tanking for? This is a mediocre QB Draft class. You'd have to get yourself excited about hugely flawed prospects. -

Why do we have to pick ONE problem? This team is poo. BY is a bad QB AND we have one of the worst DC in NFL history. Both are kinda a big thing. -

This is true. But I don't think you can really do that with Bryce. Week 1 was extremely consistent with what Bryce has been each season entering a year and overall as a QB. I think the real liar is just the anomaly week 18 game last year. Without that one random game.......Bryce Young's career to date really isn't really debatable at all. He doesn't belong on the field. That's at best a backup. The one game doing a LOT of lifting given how many other games are out there. -

Yeah Kyler definitely hasn't lived up to billing. But this is a tough league. If a guy doesn't want greatness there's nothing you can do. But even the guys who don't want that and spend their days playing video games instead of studying film can shine brighter more often than someone who is just physically outmatched altogether. Unfortunately we have learned this in real time. But I agree entirely about first overall picks in general. You don't need to be in that slot to get a decent starting QB. That's another tough lesson the Panthers are learning. Anywho. We'll see how our head coach has his team prepared this Sunday. I just want to stop looking horrible early in the season when everything is still at stake. These late season runs when we are already eliminated do nothing for me and they have clearly done nothing for our team culture as previously suggested. -

Rather than his physical stats, I was kinda alluding to the fact that Kyler hasn't lived up to the hype either. Although, he has had some modest success for short stints. The thing is, both teams could have probably had the same success rates with third round picks as QBs over first rounders. Yanno? -

They arent going to do anything after 1 game besides hopefully gameplan better. Start serious scouting efforts -

I can get with much of what you're saying here. But I also would say although Kyler Murray is roughly around the same height as Young (he's taller sadly) he is physically a much different QB. And he has a much higher career completion percentage. I mean it is not controversial to say he is a superior passer and probably it isn't all that close. We just need to be honest with ourselves at this point in time in Bryce Young's third NFL season as a starter. For further clarification. Bryce Young has one game with 300 or more passing yards. Kyler has 15 in his career. -

2 years of starting out looking like poo should have at least had that option on the table. It's going to be interesting to see what they do over the next few weeks. Slow start, regular NFL injuries, the D looking like hot poo again...the heat is on. Im just not buying the master plan with Dalton and Evero being brought back. It's the fly in the 'they were expecting something different from last year' take while doing the same poo as last year. -

Tell me where I said all the losses are his fault As all I said was he is our #1 problem right now, just like it is for every single team in today’s NFL if you don’t have a long term quality solution at QB. -
It just highlights that the supposed best attribute about Bryce Young that being his football IQ and elite processing was fools gold from the start. Daniel Jones is not really that much better in that area. But. Like Sam Darnold. Jones has the physical talent in order to compensate for it at times. Though both have faltered like Bryce when the lights are bright too. They can at least put up significant yardage and put the ball places other QB's can't. Bryce does not and never did have that. Every little thing on both sides of the ball have to go perfect for him to be even serviceable. That is why it was such a foolish gamble to make. If you trade up like we did you take the best physical passer or you don't trade up. Even the Giants after giving Jones that contract they are still in a more advantageous position QB wise than we are. Because they weren't stupid enough to give up a haul and a talented WR for a physical outlier at QB. It's all self inflicted. Sigh...

Let me put it this way, Im not buy any master plans from this crew. The plan still appears to be the other players on offense will carry him. No matter how much they put into the offense that's going to be tough to pull off. If you can't do something good then there is always something stupid to do. That seems like this crew. Insert Evero into why bring back Dalton and it all points to they thought the red flags were false. That's all I got -

It puts so much pressure on the D when you can only score 10 points. You put our D with a high scoring O and they would look like a much better unit, still bad but not historically bad. -

Yeah, I've been torn up all week about this. And I'm going to be honest, you and I don't know poo about what is going on with the team. Are they losing the locker room? Not seeing anything from the players about that, just seeing it on forums like this. Are they concerned? Yeah, I'd think that would be a reasonable assumption. Are they rallying around Bryce? Yeah, that I'm seeing from the stuff we see of the players. Is some of it a bit drummed up, quite possibly. Is some of it genuine care and belief in their teammate, yeah most definitely. What is Morgan going to do? Hell, that was just week 1. And week one is often a liar. Once in a while it tells the truth (and that sure was an ugly one to tell last Sunday). Most often, it's just what it is. Half the teams that played in week one lost. Straight down the middle. Sometimes it was a close game, sometimes it was a blowout. We got punched in the face, had our lunch money stolen and Jacksonville kissed our girlfriend. Me, I saw a team that wasn't up to speed yet. We were playing like this was the fourth pre-season game like we used to have. We're going to learn a lot about Bryce, this team, our coaching and team management after this week's game. It's against the Cardinals, a team that has always been one of those benchmarks for it. Beat them and good things happen (remember that killer game Julius Peppers had against them), lose and it often starts the fast slide to the bottom again (sadly, that playoff game with Jake...). Right now, the Cardinals have their Bryce Young, except their guy still has a better PR department. They have a meh-ish defense. They have a star WR that is underperforming and was possibly over-drafted. They don't have many stars to speak of and dwell around 3rd-4th place in their division on a regular basis. In other words, they are pretty much on par with us. And they are a forgotten team as well, playing games in obscurity. So, yeah, we're going to learn the tale of the season this weekend. And honestly, if we lose like we just did or worse, and I was Dan Morgan, I'd be working on polishing up that resume`.
