  2. From my what I have seen the overwhelming majority of people who are considering the notion a possibility don't really want to see it happen but are considering so for a number of reasons. Most importantly availability. Secondly even when he plays the last few seasons he has been red hot or ice cold. Then there is the subject of his defense which to say the least leaves a lot to be desired. Then there is the image of Ball inactive laughing it up on the sideline (while our team was getting the doors blown off) with previous busts who are now relegated to hanging on by a thread in the g league. I think we should be able to recognize with the team going out of their way to put a very strong emphasis on culture and leadership with the conclusion of this years draft that they expect LaMelo to lead the way this upcoming season and that begins with making significant strides and trending in a positive direction in the aforementioned aspects above. It just has to happen.
  3. Ppl want to trade Melo? Am I wrong for thinking that would be a bad idea?
  4. Today
  5. Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
  6. It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
  7. I can't see a world where the money goes down, but maybe your lottery odds are now your contract numbers you can offer. Thunder? You can offer Flagg 4 years, 20 million. Hornets? You can offer Flagg 4 years, 80 million. Some form of a system where the money is still there, but so is the freedom of choice (on top of bad teams getting *some* competitive advantage to signing them).
  8. You mean the guy who hasn't shown up to Utah yet and whose camp has had "minimal contact" with the team since draft night? That's immediately buying in?
  9. Conceptually it's worth pondering if there are alternatives that could line up with current times. Alternatively on the flip side it opens a very real conversation about newer generations who are making in many cases drastically more money than previous generations of basketball football and baseball players being entitled. For me I'd say to even begin to entertain the notion of this then average pay should go down minimum 75% across the board. See how folks feel about the draft when they're only making WNBA money.
  10. For the record, the Draft is fun...but I wish they'd find a way to get rid of it. It is borderline crazy that pro athletes are just about the only profession where you don't have really any say on where you're going to work, live, etc. Free agency for all would come with issues, but I'd be interested in it. Want to go to the contender? Then prepare to take less money. Only care about your paycheck or getting your stats? Then welcome to the bad teams with cap space.
  11. $41 million and can't even show up like every other rookie is and has been doing? Terrible look.
  12. I was concerned it could become a thing if we drafted him. If the grades are even remotely close you draft the player who wants to play for your franchise. Maybe this will be nothing and all blow over, but it's nice not to have to worry about it...
  13. It was fine when we won but he was probably too player friendly and lost a SB because he just let the players do their thing instead of having a real plan to win the game. Also, after 2017, he had nothing. The players quit on him two years in a row. You could see it in the 1-15 finishes. The players quit.
  14. https://x.com/TheDunkCentral/status/1938614224009203810 Wow I was told he bought in
  15. I'm officially done watching any NBA or spending a dime going to games and buying merchandise. It was always obvious, but this year was the tipping point. I watched about 30 minutes of basketball the entire playoffs this year. They have killed it for me. Lebron to Cleveland, Rose to Chicago, Kyrie when Lebron returned, Zion for Anthony Davis, Wiggins, and now this?? anyone still committed to this WWE entertainment league?
  16. There's a big lot on West Morehead across from the Carolina School Supply Building that should have room. Up to this point it's been first come first serve on gameday and didn't allow online booking but not sure if that's changed. We stopped parking there a couple of years ago since it's kinda hard to get out of after the game and it went up to $50
  17. Rumor is it was both Philly and Charlotte he told not to draft him. Also his agent tried to tell Utah as well but they didn't care.
  18. XL working on leaving his mark instead of the football (terrible joke) https://x.com/avl_mike/status/1938619957450858920?s=46 i know some people need to see players working in the off-season to believe they are for some reason. So here ya go.
  19. ^^^This! Ron Rivera for all the crap he gets from fans was an absolute master at establishing culture and blending the personality of the players to fit. And in a lot of ways having that full buy in from players is way more valuable that being a wiz at X’s and O’s. When you can get guys to play for each other and the org … wooo buddy!!!
  20. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45592247/sources-ace-bailey-reps-told-team-top-five-not-pick-him 100% chance that team in the top 5 was us
  21. ESPN’s recent grades has Charlotte with a B. I haven’t paid attention to any others really.
  22. It’s simple. Win and everyone in here will say the culture is good. Dear lord the amount of time spent on these posts is hysterical. We’ve seen the end of season swoons where you can tell the team had given up with many of the same leaders that took us to playoff seasons. When your OL is decimated by injuries, it’s amazing how fast culture turns. When you get on a tear like 2015, everyone’s having fun. You need the right people regardless, but they have to win.
  23. The difference is about how much player input is allowed and encouraged in the decision making process. Top down teams tend to dictate to players how everything is handled. Disagreements are handled by the coach and players are expected to do what they are told regardless of what they think or feel. Players are perceived as commodities to be used until we find better. In player led teams player input is encouraged and valued. Players and especially leaders are expected to settle their own disagreements and be accountable to the team but mostly to each other. Players are family to be appreciated and supported in their growth. Is the reality of football the same in both? Yeah there are limited positions, football is a business and winning is the bottom line. Coaches get final say and run the program because that is their job. But in player led teams they feel valued, appreciated, part of a larger whole. Most people who have worked at multiple jobs know exactly what I am talking about. When players try to run the show and don't value coach input that isn't a player led team, that is a circus which we surely are familiar with in our past.
  24. For our pics and trades tonight and tmrw. Remember, Aho was a 2nd rounder and Slavin was a 4th rounder.
  25. Seems to be the consensus from the talking heads. I really wish we had double dipped at center in the 2nd round. Sion will never play in the league.
