Canales is an NFL level coach, not a good one but he is one. I don't think Rhule ever hit that level. Rhule being busy trying to do non-NFL stuff off the field probably kept him busy enough to do less damage on the field. Him wanting Fritz also make it an obvious choice for which is worse.

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
mrcompletely11 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
so whats the solution? Its either a poo vet free agent qb, draft a dude and let him sit or bryce for at least 2 more years. The rookie contract situation is fuging awesome when you hit on it, but it completely goes against your team when you have a guy like bryce. I swear to Christ if we roll out someone like Russ next year hoping to compete I will fuging delete my account and completely stop driving 10ish hours to go to games. fug that poo there needs to be a plan. I keep seeing Wilsons name pop up in association with Canales and man if anyone has watched him the last 2 years the dude is completely fuging cooked. Thats what happens when a smaller qb loses his speed and has to stay in the pocket, it doesnt work -
I Wouldn't trust any of these QB's in the upcoming draft as a high pick. Not to built a offense around anyways. Maybe in the mid- rounds, certainly not in the first or second. This team is so far behind the eight ball right now, they need help everywhere.

whats your solution for qb in 2026? Seriously asking because the free agent list is LOL funny. -
With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
Navy_football replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, it should NOT be a QB. Just like in 2023, this team ain't ready for a rookie QB. Oline, LBs, Safeties, pass rushers, TEs, and yes - WRs. Build the team, and then draft a QB. -
Right, I don't think Morgan is any better than fitterer or Rhule but his statement was Canales is worse than Rhule and that is completely false. Rhule walked in to a better albeit not great situation and promptly torpedo the fug out of it with incompetence

I'm not making excuses, I'm just holding judgment until I see better QB play. Most of the passes thrown to XL this season have been uncatchable. - Today

This. Size and speed are irrelevant if you can't also deploy leverage. As an example if it were just size and strength for offensive linemen then the NFL would look like this : https://www.theworldsstrongestman.com/athletes/ Most guys just can't football.

Canales in his press conferences
electro's horse replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
He only wrote like 20% of it, and “writing” is a stretch. Almost all of it is Izzy’s and it reads like a screenplay treatment. Or like she’s describing what she imagined the story would like as a movie. Neither of them is writing great gatsby any time soon. The book was published by some scammy self financed author company so he had to put up the money himself for her to publish it. You get the sense this was a “sorry i cheated on you” gift. Izzy wants to become an evangelical motivational speaker and needs a book to be able to sell after her speeches. The big takeaways were… 1. There’s powerful “yeah I DID do this and only this and I am so sorry for doing this, the only thing I did” energy in the story. It’s clearly not all he did. 2. Izzy baby girl what is you doing 3. Dave is a colossal asshole (spending money at strip clubs while his wife can’t afford groceries) and in all of the parts he “wrote” he comes across as weird and full of himself. 4. something very clearly happened between Dave and someone on the staff from Seattle and it’s probably Brad Idzik. It is alluded to several times because the book wasn’t edited so there’s lots of different fragments of the same story. -

He isn't very smart but I also don't think he is being coached up either. I have no idea what this staff does other than cash checks. No one has improved and a few seem to be worse. -
We aren't even half way through the season either. Wonder how Dan is holding up? Whatever gets us a top pick at this point along with a new crew. If luck is all we can hope for then just keep throwing the dice.

Oh come on -
Is anyone else now buying the idea Tepper has eyes on a Europe move??
Waldo replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
It is about talent. The NFL already has a talent issue that continues to grow IMO. Moves are deffinatly on the table but I haven't heard a peep about new expansion teams. -

That's always been a cringy part of this story -
I want to trade for Jameis just so I can actually watch a qb throw the ball thirty yards down the field. It may not be to our team but at least it will be more entertaining than what we have now
-
Mission accomplished. The worst part is this IS them trying to win their way. I would take half the huddle over anyone in that house currently and we would probably pick up a few more wins.
-
I thought Evero deserved a final look because of all the injuries we had last year but damn. I think back to when we had a 3-4 with Mills, Greene and Co. Our defense was nasty. Evero looks like he's playing prevent defense with a 20 point lead. Teams do whatever they want against us and he keeps a loyalty to veterans that makes Ron Rivera look great. Fire Evero immediately, bring back the 4-3 right now and get a headstart on next year.
-
But Tepper told us that he wanted the next coach to be able to say the eulogy at his funeral.
-
Yes but also look at last years draft. That was Rhule quality. Not all the damage can be blamed on Rhule or even Fritz. The current crew has helped dig that hole too.
-
Jesus he looks like he is on a bender
-
Yeah I think Canales would have actually succeeded as a coach with the roster that Rhule had 2020-2022. Our team talent has gotten progressively worse with awful drafting
-
Canales can (will) lose out and he’s still miles better than Matt Rhule.

XL can’t run routes for poo, and he can’t catch. How is it that T-Mac can put up a 100-yard game and XL can’t get positive yardage? Keep making excuses. -
Looks like psychological fatigue from Tepper, and being forced to play a poor QB who can’t run a basic NFL offense.
