Totally agree. Why do I feel like this has plagued the Panthers for over a decade? This was a thing even when we had Cam
-
Need help with these grades... Did Bryce score as high as he did because he earned 20 points off... (checks notes) run blocking?
-
We had a 13% pressure rate which was the lowest

Not throwing at the combine was the giveaway
Dave Gettleman's Shorts replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
FALSE, he went to the combine to get his weight measured -
100%. If it was all attitude and heart, QBs like Josh Allen would be coming off of a factory line. He's a physical freak. He came in super talented as a passer. He had serious flaws that were fixable. He had the development support to help him fix those flaws. It's like saying anyone can be as good of a shooter as Steph Curry if they're coachable enough.

Spoiler alert: we know
-
Can't be easy on protection either consistently getting the ball snapped at the last second. Whether that's a Canales issue or a Bryce one, it needs to get figured out.

I just don't know what, if any, logic there is behind any of our decisions. We draft a gamechanger WR at #8, I'd like to see us do some unique things with him? Let him go up for some jump balls? Why are we drafting more RBs? We have Hubbard, signed Dowdle and have a 2nd rnd pick on IR. Why are we drafting edge dudes 2nd and 3rd and they aren't even starters on the worst defense ever? Like holy chit I just don't understand anything. I would rather see us just absolutely huck the rock all over the field and throw 10 interceptions than what I saw yesterday
-
Icky theilen Coker none of those dudes could have changed the outcome. We were flat.

You know, it's actually possible to appreciate Josh Allen without shitting on our QB GOAT. I mean, it's not even difficult. I sure wish our organization had built Cam an OL and put receivers around him like the Bills smartly did with Allen so that we could've seen what prime Cam could've done with a good offensive unit around him and I wish that the Panthers had an OC that wouldn't just rely on Cam's elite physical tools to carry his offense but alas...

Garbage time BY9 strikes again.

Virtually all of us wanted him fired after last year. Would that have been unfair to him given the overall lack of talent and injuries? Maybe, but a lot of that subpar talent were guys the Panthers were bragging about Evero personally being involved with targeting in FA. At the end of the day, when you field a historically inept unit you gotta go.

Ideally, we’d purge. Hire a new GM, let them hire their coach, replace the scouts finally, let the new coach draft their QB. That puts everything on a synced timeline and lets us actually start digging out. What we are probably going to do is get rid of Young, keep Dan and Dave and draft a QB. Then we’ll drop Dave a year or two into the new QBs contract. Then rinse and repeat with coaching and QBs misaligned.

PFF Offense Grades: T-Mac, Hunt and Young adorn the top 3

Even more reason why PFF a load of crap. -
I've never seen it before. Usually top prospects get nitpicked to death, especially QBs. You watch a guy out there throwing lasers between the numbers and they'll be like "that ball placement should've been a little more out front to lead the receiver" but with Bryce you watch a little guy floating wounded ducks to wide open receivers having to slow down to wait for the ball to get there and they act like teenage girls who just met Taylor Swift. It was utterly bizarre.

Rhule, Frank, Dave…. Do any of them seem like coaches who can be a hard ass and fire the team up? It’s a lot more important than you think. Same with the QB role
-
Corbett's multiple high snaps hurt too because that means Bryce is going to have to be focusing more on that vs. the first step one of his keys takes. Hoping that Icky makes it back into the lineup and that the team considers inserting Mays back in as a starter if Corbett shows the same issues at practice this week.

Those TE grades! Awesome! -
Might be an overreaction but keeping Evero might have been a horrendous mistake. I was on the side of keeping him for some reason, but I hate watching his unit play.

The thing is... He wasn't a great processor in college. He relied on wide open players and being off schedule to look good. He constantly missed line reads that lead to him taking a sack or having to go off schedule. Then he had happy feet which made the line reads and always being off schedule even worse. I literally just don't get why he was so highly ranked. It baffles my mind.

Definitely seems to be a lot of that out there and not just from PFF. I've never seen the entire football world be so collectively wrong about a prospect when the truth was always right there. They got so caught up in this "super processor football savant" storyline that they just completely ignored what their eyes should've been telling them. At the end of the day, if you simply don't have the physical ability to do it then nothing else matters.

Dude I have a Cam jersey and was a massive Cam fan. I literally got in a fight at the Saints NFCS Championship game in 2013 because people behind me were yelling “Sir Cameron Newton: Leader of Men, Lover of Puppies...Esquire”. You cannot watch Josh Allen and tell me that Cam ever approached anything close to what you see from him on a consistent basis. Cam did it for one season and Allen has done it now for four. Cam was set in his ways. As much as I liked watching him, it was painfully obvious that he wasn’t improving and, if anything, continuously regressed following his peak in 2015. I can be a fan and also recognize a persons shortcomings. Cam was always at the top and didn’t have to put in the same amount of work as a lesser, physically talented person has to put it. He got comfortable and he fell. That mountain top is sharp and you either keep building or you teeter and fall. Sure, he was an alpha, but what did that lead to? One great year. Aside from that, he was average at best.
