It helps to answer the Canales question. With the Bryce question answered now we have to work on the lingering big question. I'm out on Bryce and Evero. Now we gotta work on the Canales question.
-
I'm not at all convinced that Canales and/or Morgan chose this route. I honestly find it doubtful that they wouldn't have preferred to upgrade the backup QB position. Maybe they honestly didn't. I don't know. But it really felt like we went into this off-season all in on the Bryce train again and that seems like something that would've come from the top. I don't see football people willingly forgoing an obvious weak spot on their roster at the most important position in the game.

If Harbaugh was coach Bryce would have never seen the field again as a Panther once he got benched. He is probably thanking God he avoided this disaster. -
There is really no reason to just plug a TO machine gunslinger from a results perspective. It's not going to accomplish anything from a W's and L's standpoint. It probably wouldn't even accomplish much from an evaluation of offense/offensive player standpoint. I do understand it from a fan's perspective. At least it's interesting to watch on Sunday, albeit ultimately maddening in the end. If they have to bench Bryce, just turn it over to Dalton. He can pilot a sinking ship more effectively than Bryce anyway. It will still sink but he might buy you enough time to offload some assets.

Official Week 4: Panthers at Patriots Gameday Thread

Some folks just can’t take being wrong I guess lol -
If Tepper doesn't give the green light to bench Young, then they can point to the fact they are saddled with a QB that doesn't give them a chance to win consistently. This is ALL Tepper's making. He knows it and why I think no matter how bad it gets, Morgan and Canales gets to start '26, most certainly without Bryce Young. Then if the suckitude continues, heads will roll.

Of course. But so what? All players have fans even the ones that fail. Its as old as the game itself. -
I'm not sure that he did chose this route and that in itself is a whole different can of worms. I still firmly believe that Tepper is forcing the Bryce issue and has since day 1. Now Canales may have signed up for it originally, but at some point, you have to let a coach coach. And I also believe any other potential coaches are going to look at Frank, DC, the whole draft debacle with BY, Dave and Nicole's involvement, and probably decline if they believe Tepper is going to tell them how to run the locker room. Trading a round 6 or 7 pick does 2 things. First, it gives DC a chance to run the offense he actually designed and two, it shows any other future candidates that Tepper isn't going to dictate the way they operate the locker room. Whether you think DC is a good coach or not, Teppers fingerprints are all over the way this team is being run and if some of that doesnt get cleared away, the only coaches or GMs that will come here will be from New Albuquerque State Polytechnic School of Fashion and Design.

I second this (for next year if we don't like a QB in this year's draft). Winston will make the guaranteed 5 dumb passes in a game you pray don't get picked off, but otherwise the dude is capable of making throws the elite QBs in the NFL can make. Would be a good way to judge how good of routes the receivers are running

Tepper will never hire someone like Vrabel. He could’ve had Harbaugh who was basically begging to coach in Charlotte and wouldn’t hire him because Harbaugh talks back. As long as Tepper owns this team they will have spineless yes men with no guts. -

This is the worst qb class since Pickett to the Steelers. -

There are no reinforcements coming. 13 more games of Brycemas.

Their opinion isn’t bothersome so much as head scratching. I’d laugh but it’s my team too. -
Thats why I think it will be easier to clean out the debris and start over.

I thought tepper fired Frank because they disagreed on Bryce running more RPO and hired Canalas with the mind set he would be creating an offense around the RPO. Yet we don't see that. -
Bryce is done here. The next coach will get his qb not named Bryce Young.

Again, I get it from a fans perspective. I'm just looking at it from the Morgan/Canales perspective. If we end up with a top 3 pick looking like we currently look they're gone. If we end up with a top 10ish pick but showing some type of hope they might have a chance. These constant resets aren't working. If you fire this current crew while keeping them basically saddled to the Bryce experiment and the DC that you told them they were retaining them you didn't really even give it a chance. Do I think that Morgan/Canales are the answer? I'm very doubtful. But I also realize that no one with other options is coming to Carolina so we're looking at replacing them with similar level candidates and just praying that a scratch off lottery ticket hits. At some point you have to at least start convincing the front office/coaching talent pool that they're going to get a fair shake in Carolina and right now I think there's the opposite feeling out there and for good reason.

Canales scripts the first offensive drive then it’s nothing but chaos after that. Also, how freaking long has this team struggled to get plays in to where they only have a few seconds to get the play off? It’s a dumpster fire everywhere you look and it’s hard to say how long it will take to turn this franchise around. -

When Chris said: "If Mike Vrabel was brought here to coach this team and Canales was on the Patriots, what just happened to the Panthers would've happened to the Patriots". That's a sobering thought and brings the state of of our franchise and decision makers into perspective. If that's clear to everyone inside and outside of the building, then changes need to be made.... But you can't change ownership -
It already has been. You'd be nuking a crater.

Reich got so screwed over. Brand new staff and a rookie Bryce Young, yet got the shortest leash.
