Well he drifted out of bounds and dropped that ball then on another short pass took it like 20 yards after breaking a tackle or two. I don't know what it would take but you give him another year. Receivers who explode year one are the exception.

shough vs tmac off rookie of the year
CPcavedweller replied to fanpanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
He looks the part, and has decent stats for how he began the season .Still not rookie of the year. -
Is it your job to selectively complain about people being critical of one human and no one else? If I go to every thread and cheer on others not named Bryce when people diss them everyday…..pretty sure a boatload of people would have something to say about my cheering you are the one with the absurd these people are “sick” bologna. Yeah, I’ll call that out lol

Outside of Tet, we’ve gotten minimal contributions over average drafts. We’ve got a potential OROY in Tet, but would it surprise you that the 2024 rookie WRs/TEs have more yards (1327 and 7 TDs) than the 2025 class (1169 and 9 TDs) for far less draft capital? I love Tet and he’s been huge but let’s not act like the rookie class outside of pick 8 has been driving the win total. Scourton has done decent but the impact of CSW and Wallace is similar to Ransom and Scourton but again we used far more draft capital this year. It’s nice to see more depth but the key measure to me is getting 2-3 average or better NFL starters, and right now that’s just Tet. If Scourton gets there, the draft is better in my eyes but the only other draftee that might have a chance is Ransom but he may a wee bit overrated in here because he caught a ball Mayfield threw right to him. Made the play but is he still replacement level?

Jake definitely got most of the credit.

So because people cheer on their starting QB, you think it's your responsibility to bring them back to earth? I mean it is a Panthers fan forum. But if that works for you... -
So is this a Bryce issue, a Canales issue, or a non issue?

Too many people on here would rather be right than the Panthers win. -

How many passes have you seen that were not completed due to a lack of arm strength? I mean I get he doesn't have the strongest arm in the league, but this narrative that he can't throw the ball 50 yards is ridiculous. Now can he throw it 40 yards on a rope with a defender at his feet? I seriously doubt it. But those QBs are a rarity. Not the norm. -
Folks around here treat Bryce Young like he is their child on a travel ball team. And he got the loud parents and is the kid that everyone else knows really doesn’t belong. no one is “sick” because it’s pointed out, it’s a red flag that 3 years and in our low ceiling QB is still being talked aboutwith a present day 2nd round rookie on a bad team. this is the freaking NFL. No one is clutching their pearls as XL is poo on every day. Or Evero. Or Tepper. Or any other player. And Bryce hasn’t been much better at his job in Carolina as they have been at theirs

NAS replied to jb2288's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't buy that - not saying he can throw it on a rope, but he can get enough air under it for a Hail Mary. Bryce will never be like Cam who used to throw lasers, he requires throwing more with anticipation. -
While the interception certainly sealed the win, I struggle giving the defense much credit. Either Baker or the WR made a huge mistake and Ransom capitalized. Certainly give credit to Ransom for capitalizing, but I don’t even think our defense forced the error. Evero called a defense that allowed them to March downfield into FG range with ease. Evero’s playcalling essentially guaranteed overtime at best barring a massive unforced error by the Bucs (which fortunately did happen). Conversely, Bryce Young dropped an absolute dime to Coker for the go ahead field goal the prior possession. I personally give way more credit to the offense.

RJK replied to jb2288's topic in Carolina Panthers
He can’t. Just because he’s playing better doesn’t mean his arm magically got stronger. You’ll never see a Hail Mary from past the 50 because it wouldn’t make it to the end zone. It is possible to be objective. -
I guarantee Horn would have more receptions, receiving yards, YAC, rushing yards and game impact if he had XL's reps and opportunities. He's just a better player at the position. Not a better athlete or prospect, but a better player. I could see him being a Josh Downs type of player. XL is a Mingo type of player.

Pretty sure they were in the same draft class.

Yeah... and there'll be another one once Jimmy Horn starts taking XL's reps. -

How does a discussion about Shough being rookie of the year vs TMac turn into a put down of Bryce Young? Yall really sick. -

Best draft class we've had in more than a decade. -
I think Rod will be around a while longer, though these last three games hurt his stock. It appears that for these games with nice leads the opponent scores and then the Canes overreact and don’t stick with their game. I think it’s a confidence issue. With Bussi in net they were spoiled by him making great plays and when he let a goal in when the other team made a push, or anytime Freddie is in net and the opponent scores they fall apart and instead of offense the Canes get defensive, overreact and make mistakes. Is there a sports psychologist in the house? Medic!!!

Both things can be true - Bryce has been clutch for the most part - making throws when they're needed. But this last game was won by the defense at the end. I love that Bryce has kept the perspective and never fell for the hype or the hate.

There was a time….when kickers used to get the love/shine in those moments. Jon Kasay not Jake was deemed the clutch game winner the Cardiac Cats season. At one point, Adam Vinatieri was the clutch game winner while Brady was still on his path to being a GOAT. But everything is QB centric. Trevor Lawerence could move the ball zero yards and Little makes 2 70 yard kicks to close out the season….and Trevor might be talked about for an award

If you watch Princely when he's in, he has an ability to bend round the corner that Scourton severely lacks. I think he'll be a good one for us, eventually.

Baker Mayfield was literally running away from our entire Front 7 on Sunday. Baker. Mayfield.

After getting burned on Brooks can you blame them?
