BOLD TAKE: Panthers will draft Jacob Rodriguez @19
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He would certainly challenge Pickett for the backup job day 1. The way I see it Bryce is going to pilot the team to wherever their first round pick will be in 2027. If it's a top 10 pick his real replacement will be taken then. Simpson will be the bridge QB until the new guy is ready. Unless he wins it outright. In that case we are looking for a backup for Simpson. -
I see this as having another arm n competition for the off-season. Also, it gives them another possibility if we don't get a qb in the draft we are targeting. They definitely are still eyeing a couple if prospects. Just got to have extra insurance and possibly throwing the scent off them in any target.

A bolder take would be the Panthers take Ty Simpson at 19. Honestly, it wouldn't be a bad idea. -
Yeah, in the end, this is what should be happening. Even at vet minimum, Will's soaking up some money that could be going for a younger player with some upside.

If we're just looking for a body, get one that we haven't seen before. Draft a late round prospect or an udfa with traits. Take a look at something different. If both are getting cut anyway, I'd rather take a shot on the guy that has .1% of becoming something than the guy that's already proven he's 100% of nothing as a QB prospect.

Panthers Sign QB Will Grier
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
Viewing this as someone besides the equipment interns to throw the ball in OTAs. Not reading anything into this. Yet… -
When Matt Corral is still available?

I don't see how anyone of sound mind can look at the approach of this front office to the QB room the last two years and come away thinking winning is priority #1.

The great Joe Person's Panthers mock draft extravaganza

That would have been a really good draft, to be fair. -
I love this for him

One of my favorite prospects. Jrod and Lloyd would be a nice combo at ILB. -

How Will the Lawrence Trade Influence the Draft???
rebelrouser replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
LOL. I love the Bengals. Shemar Stewart in the draft, let Hendrickson walk, give a fat old NT too much money. Sure why not a super bowl. -
Meh, lot can happen btwn now and final cuts

How Will the Lawrence Trade Influence the Draft???
tukafan21 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would be really interesting to see what kind of trade Burrow would get the Bengals in return. As it's very different than the Goff situation, where the Rams didn't think he was going to take a step to the next level and it was why they moved him for a QB ready to win immediately. If the Bengals move Burrow, it will be because he asked out (which is why they made the trade, they need immediate all pro level impact as they're afraid he'll want a trade if they don't contend soon again), and/or because he just can't stay healthy. Because for as good as Burrow is, of his 6 seasons in the league, half of them he missed significant time which derailed the Bengals seasons. If that happens again in the next year or two, it really could/would limit what teams are willing to give up for him. -
We already know what he is and it's not good. Bringing in a body just for the sake of bringing in a body doesn't add anything to the team. Keep looking for a number 2 that could maybe be more. Always try to get better.
