  2. An interesting critique. Meyer is ranked dead last. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47756010/nfl-head-coach-ranking-hires-five-years-offseason-campbell-sirianni-macdonald-vrabel
  3. During the Olympics, there are restrictions on teams making player transactions. The Olympic Roster freeze goes from February 4 at 3pm ET to February 22 at 11:59 ET. During the freeze: No Trades are permitted Players can be sent down if they are waiver exempt, except for players that played in 16 of the team's 20 NHL games prior to the freeze, or have been on the NHL roster for 80 league days prior to Jan 21 Players can be placed on waivers during the freeze, but if the player was waived after their NHL team's final game before the freeze, they do not have to report to their new team until February 17. There are no restrictions on sending players down prior to the freeze. https://puckpedia.com/news/olympic-roster-freeze
  4. Canes are only the 5th team in history to come from 2 goals down in the last 2 minutes of the game.
  5. I'd be okay with bringing back a 32 year old if NY retains about 25% of his salary. Otherwise, I'm looking more long-term and would appreciate a younger guy who will be around for a minute. Tro is under contract at $5.625M AAV through the 29-30 season. Canes get him at $4M and not have to give up the farm, I'm okay with it. You gotta know he's probably not here but for 2, maybe 3 years tops. Never been a fan of getting a 2-3 year guy and giving up a 5-6 year guy.
  6. If he's gonna wait until next year's hiring cycle to jump back in the mix then he's probably going to take one of those advisor roles on a staff similar to what we have with Dom Capers. Basically just a mind to pick. The thing is that I don't think there's any connections to McD with our current staff. We'd be much more likely to reach out to Pete Carroll for that type of role which honestly I think we should.
  7. So he holds out in 2027 instead? I wouldn’t take that. Panthers are facing a murderers row next season and were already primed to regress anyway. and again, gotta strike while you have leverage. He has it right now and the panthers don’t. I was thinking 3year $20M (ish) is a little more reasonable and easy for both sides to swallow. As for leverage...the Panthers have it all. He can play next year for $6.7M (with my numbers) or $1.1 (league min) or $0 (sits out). I can't imagine risking getting hurt for $1.1M while turning down guaranteed money. Also...by sitting out 2026, he looses all the momentum he had and becomes just another UDFA that had a few good games in the minds of GM's everywhere. No way someone keeps him in mind when handing out big contracts a year after playing a down. He's a good player and absolutely will get paid, but it won't break the bank.
  8. Yeah, I don't think there's anything strictly forbidding it to happen but generally speaking it's frowned upon and coaches for teams still active in the playoffs aren't general announced as hires until that team is no longer active. Honestly, they really should just make it where teams can't interview and hire coaches until after the Super Bowl. Yeah, tampering is gonna happen. That's just reality. But let the coaches still active focus on the job at hand without the distraction of formal interview processes. It would also help the league in term of extending the news cycle. The NFL is hot and heavy in the media and in football fans minds throughout the playoffs. After the Super Bowl that's basically a wrap until the draft news cycle gets into full swing. If you postpone the coach hiring cycle until after the SB concludes then you're in essence creating a whole new NFL news cycle during a historically pretty dead NFL news period. Seems like a win/win for everybody IMO.
  9. Today
  10. Would like to see what the Nets wanted for Nic Claxton, or get wild and see what the Pelicans wanted for Trey Murphy. Don't know if we'll rock the boat too much, and probably more likely to still send people out as opposed to bringing them in...but there's finally something building here.
  11. Remember Tro and Slavin greeting everyone when they left the ice? Needs to come back.
  12. If you're frustrated with Evero's zone scheme and playing too soft of coverage, wait until you watch actual tape of Sean's defense.
  13. 6 yards per attempt after 3 seasons. For historical reference.
  14. Reports are Panarin is actively engaging with Washington, and has contacted the 3 California teams (Ducks, Kings & Sharks). Carolina's interest in Panarin remains internal front office discussion and the 2 teams have not specifically addressed him. Leades me to believe Trocheck might be the real target.
  15. Oh man I almost forgot about the Cowboys angle. They were going to take him and we swooped in and got them good (lol). Same rationale was made when we drafted TMJ except we stole him from the Saints. Epic cringe.
  16. He hasn't lasted at any team he's been with going back to the Cardinals. I like him as a person but as a coach it is what it is brosef.
  17. Flagg is most likely the ROTY but I'm just ecstatic we have one of the best two players from the draft. The young core is very nice.
  18. Also the chance that Arizona snags Kubiak or he just decides to stay. Really, that would be the best chance for Evero because I think they are zeroed in on Kubiak
  19. Yeah I agree. I believed in Sam too. Through all the turmoil and change Darnold was the only quarterback we have had with the size, physical tools and scrambling ability to be effective. (excluding Cam for obvious reasons) You could see more good than bad and he showcased enough in his decision making and ball placement to allow him to develop. We just had the wrong coaching staff and front office. Tepper and Fitz really screwed up things.
  20. I know Wilks was not the answer but for you to rate the former defensive backs coach that was handed the head coach position without an offseason or real choice of offensive play caller is really short sighted. To think any coach could have done a better job with the hand he was dealt at mid-season is quite interesting. He relied on the two stable elements we had at the time, which were a decent defense and run game
  21. Is it not common to wait with the announcement when the new HC is a DC or OC from one of the SB teams? Typically 2 days after super Bowl? So, if nothing happens within a few days, there is one clear candidate that they want and Evero stays here.
  22. Yards per attempt is what I always look at as the most important key metric Take a guess where BY ranks compared to other QBs... 32nd<---- Highlight for answer
  23. Fowler is thd only one putting any serious consideration in to Evero. Who knows.
  24. If I remember correctly, we thought Jerry Jones was going to take Brooks so we traded up to take him. I wanted Frazier, no secret there, but we also needed an edge rusher, LB, safety, CB, pretty much everything other than DB and Horn. That's why I said we could have addressed a pass catching RB in FA if that's what it was thought Bryce needed to be successful. Even if it was a 1 year contract, there's always another available the next year. Rico is a perfect example. We just had too many long term holes to fill, especially on defense, to use that pick on an injured RB. Like I said, I get the logic of why and the likely mandate from Tepper, which is an entirely different problem with an owner dictating how a GM needs to build the team, and then is that GM really qualified or just a front guy. But when you look at the rest of the team, even if Brooks was 100%, we had just too many damn holes and we had already spent a chunk of our FA cap on Hunt and Lewis, and a 1st on XL. At some point Bryce has to elevate the players around him if he's going to be the guy.
