This is a good story--I LOVED his dad as a person and player--I talked to him at an OTA (he was back for his second stint) and he was talking about Moore (the WR from Wake Forest) being so young. I was with my teenage son and told him, "This is Taylor. He and I attended the OTAs when you were in Rock Hill as a rookie." He jokes, "Was he in diapers then?" and laughed. I imagine Moose III was in diapers when we chatted that day. So I really would love for this to work out. However, his stats do not suggest he was anything special in college.

I guess there are signs. The combination of the turf toe, hamstring, and knee issues led to questions about his long-term health and affected his draft stock, causing him to fall to the second round. Here is what I know about a knee injury. It changes nearly every aspect of your lower body movement. So the turf toe and hamstring could be related. It makes him seem injury prone. I guess the knee was not the most recent injury, so the others could have been a result of favoring the knee. Johnson did not run the 40 at the combine or pro day. That suggests there is something he feels might drop his value. So if you downplay the severity of the injury, have a history of possibly related injuries, and refuse to demonstrate (when given multiple opportunities) that you are fully recovered, don't get mad when your stock drops. -
Yep. And I hate that we'll go with a default starter at Safety and possibly at ILB. I would have much rather doubled down on Safeties in the 4th and had a plan going forward. Feels like they're just hoping it works itself out.

I saw something where Will Johnson said that he will "make the league pay" for passing over him. He wanted a team to pay full price for potentially damaged goods. I recently did not buy a 2023 Honda Odyssey because I did a CarFax and determined that it had been in a rather severe accident the year before. The salesman (the car's agent) failed to mention it. He was trying to get nearly full retail on the book value, and I passed on him and the car. It may be fine. It may be a great car and take a happy family to Disneyland one day. I was not passing on the car's present ability, I was passing on the increased risk that there would be a problem that resulted from this damage in the future. -
just to make it clear...unless you are a belichick fan or a unc fan, no one cares. no one. seriously, no one.

Doubling tripling and quadrupling down on this subject in defense of the pick is reminiscent of a certain mindset that has overtaken the political world. This conversation will become less contentious and dragged out to the point of becoming a dead beaten horse if rational minds can simply agree that we made a mistake missed on a potential franchise center and we will learn from it. All this coping is unnecessary.

Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle. Also, “flashed his talent” isn’t 9 carries for 22 yards. His one reception for 18 yards isn’t a flash with 11 other touches for 27 yards. He hasn’t proven anything. We have no idea if he’ll contribute in 2026.

Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall... I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030

I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.

Aho and Jarvis just gripping it too tight right now. Relax, play their 200 ft game and the shots will start to find the net. Freddie has been excellent and welcome back Mista Svechnikov. Burns.....well, thank goodness for Slavin.

Supposedly he plans on staying in college for all 4 years.

I'm pretty sure hes one of the few who dont need the money..... Not to mention he is the next generation Manning.... you'd better bet his grandfather and uncles want the legacy to continue.
-
I had long said he was one of the main players I wanted at 8 if T-Mac wasn't there or if we just weren't going to take him even if he was. I genuinely wonder if his agent was working to keep the extent of his knee problems quiet, because it's clear the teams all were much more concerned about how long his knee might hold up than any analyst ever talked about, so us fans would never have had any idea of course.
-
It's not a good look for him, but I don't put much stock in all this. He's a DT who is a gamer and not a workout warrior to begin with, add in that he probably celebrated a bit too much post-draft and wasn't keeping in his best shape, and it makes sense for him to be out of shape right now. If he still looks like this come training camp, then it's a much bigger red flag to keep an eye on

If we suck I hope we land Sellers. Ideally we are picking closer to 20 next draft

Joe Person working on his next piece of Journalism. In fairness to Joe, Morgan was deceptive and tight lipped this year. And I think Graham would have been the pick had he fallen. -
We need to come out like this series belongs to us. Take all pressure off the road trip, just fuging take this game and go to DC ready to close it. We can win this in 5, and looking at Florida in their war with Toronto, we need to do it in 5 because they're likely going 7 and getting the extra rest could be huge for our legs.
