PFF has him ranked 12th and Moehrig 28 going into this season. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-safety-rankings-top-32-ahead-of-2025-nfl-season Peppers missed significant time in 2024 while on the commissioner's exempt list due to off-field issues, but his 82.3 PFF overall grade still ranked sixth. Over the past three seasons, he has earned a 90.1 PFF overall grade, which ranks third among 96 qualifying safeties

Yeah if they are, they were put their by mistake. -
Man, we're desperate around here. I had to look at Peppers' stats to see if I'm missing something, but no, he's an average guy at best. Nothing impressive at all in his stats. He's not a true safety at all, and I'm kind of annoyed with the jack of all trades players at this point. Of course I see the PFF scores and everything, but I'm old school. I believe the stats tell more about the player than the analytics. This ain't moneyball here. (haha) The best players put up numbers. And when I look at the numbers, Peppers is just another player running around on the field.

People see what they want. I have also stated since the moment we drafted Bryce….a badly owned team was screwing HIM over by setting him up to fail by coach/scheme design. Core criticism isn’t actually Bryce…it’s Carolina/front office. I could see Bryce being good. I could see Canales being good. But I don’t see them as a pairing. Football is about fit. Board is doing what the board does. People were idiots who dared question the All Star staff. People raged when Fitterer was criticized. They raged when Rhule was criticized. Until they didn’t. -
Yeah and to make it weirder Moehrig is a FS, Peppers is a SS.

Think my cable/Internet bill is 280 a month and includes new ESPN app, Paramount, Disney+, peacock, hbo max, and amc+. Dunno what to do with half of it most of the time. Think I only use peacock for twisted metal, Disney+ for marvel movies and daredevil.
-
The timing is definitely very odd. Seems like a good chance there's something more to it than just a football decision.
-
It shouldn't take long to find out where he lands, he needs to get signed soon if he wants to play week 1
-
Saleh and Canales have worked together before. plus there are plenty of nfl people that thought Canales would be the next Seattle coach.
-
Moehrig like every safety we’ve had since evero has been here will prob suck

If Bryce cannot elevate himself to a top 15 QB with the pieces we have put around him and the resume we were sold before the draft then he was never that guy to begin with. Can we please stop invoking Cam Newton in defense of our first overall pick? Newton was rookie of the year in a lockout season when many many people here on the huddle said he was a one productive college season project who wouldn't do much and should sit behind Billy Volek. He took relentless grief from the media and this fanbase over the years for just trying to bring a better culture to the Carolinas. -
I wouldn't be opposed to Moehrig if we hadn't paid him like a guy who can cover.
-
Moehrig is 26. Peppers is 29.
-
"This year" is a bit misleading with how cap hits in contracts work. Looking at average per year contract value, Hamilton is #1 and while technically having a higher run grade, I mean c'mon... Kerby Joseph is #2 Antoine Winfield Jr. is #3. LOL @ the Bucs
-
Luvu said no thanks. He took less to leave.
-
It could be because teams are typically in nickle and using an extra cb to defend the pass so they opt for safety that needs to be more similar to a linebacker
-
Exactly. I noticed that as well.
-
Cause the league is swinging back to being a run first league.
-
He was acquitted on all charges, but gotta wonder with the release if something else is coming up

I live just NW of Charlotte near Lake Norman.
-
Well I'm going to have to take that back I suppose. I had forgotten about him spending time on the commissioners exempt list for domestic violence and cocaine. Suffice to say we aren't the ideal destination to try and keep someone with off field concerns on the straight and narrow.

I think every single poster on this board knows this is a make or break year for BY and knows he hasn't been consistent enough to warrant a big contract extension. I also think there are several posters here (CRA, LG in particular) who will never be happy with our QB situation unless we have a top 4 QB like Burrow, Allen, Jackson or Mahomes (and I'm fairly certain they would be bitching at Lamar if he was our QB). Getting a player like that is extremely rare and is something the Panthers haven't done in 30 years... and there's a good chance they will be waiting the rest of their lives as well because the Panthers have been a fairly unlucky franchise and are owned by someone who wants instant gratification. So for those hoping these conversations will go away, they never will. Cam had a lot of the same negative posts here as well except for one season. It's just part of being in the Panthers fandom -
It makes too much sense so it’ll never happen. It’s the panthers way
