At the end of the day, I doubt either are even here in 2 years. Hope they can crush it together the remainder of the season

the 49ers are likely our worst matchup of the season....
CRA replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce also averages close to about 100 more passing yards per game in a dome vs outside. I think this game will play out more like the Saints game, Packers game, etc in terms of what Bryce is able to do. What we need is for Rico to be able to find a whole in a crowded box maybe twice and gash them for big ones -
This does feel like Freddie last year. Maybe, ole maybe koochie can be him.

The trend seems to be we play our worst games coming off our biggest wins, so I imagine we're probably getting blown out. But you never know. The 49ers defense is not what it once was. I mean, Jacoby Brissette just set the NFL record for completions in a game against them this past week. Bottom 3rd in the league in pass defense and middle of the pack in run defense. I actually think our best strategy in this game might be to come out aggressive throwing the ball the same way we did against the Falcons. Put TMac in the slot some more, send XL deep and let Coker work the intermediate areas. Put Bryce in the shotgun and go full spread. That seems to be where he is at his best. Let the short passing game function as a de facto run game of sorts, keep the clock moving with short passes and hope we can sustain some long, time-consuming drives. -
Hubbard says he might have rushed back
Swaggasaurus replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t care. He’s got bricks for hands and consistently fugs up drives because of it. So does JT Sanders. So does bi-weekly Legette. -
At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability. But there is still a lot of football to play. I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.

I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time. I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance. Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins. And that’s IF he even plays. I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return. I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.

Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.

Does Bryce deserve credit for game-winning drives?
Car123 replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly, this thread is dumb. Diminishing his effort in the Cowboys game even though he made good passes on the final drive. You can make this thread for every quarterback. -
The best part is they compliment each other. Chuba is a more patient runner, patiently waiting for gaps to form while Rico is more explosive. I wish they would use Rico more like McCaffery was used - getting him the ball in space to take advantage of his explosivness and violence. Then have Chuba pound the middle for the tough yards.

I loved those late 90s-early 2000s Miami teams. If McGahee hadn’t had that injury, he would probably have been a Top 10 all-time rusher, no doubt in my mind. The fact he didn’t lose his leg below the knee is still a miracle. And the fact he came back from that, made it in the NFL, and still carved out a career that included over 8k yards rushing and two pro bowls is damn impressive. It just demonstrates how good he would have been had he never had the injury. Prior to that, he was like nothing I had ever seen. Like a bigger, more physical and elusive Reggie Bush.

Boozer may end up going higher in the draft, but agree about Caleb Wilson. Give me that dude, think he's going to translate very well and has the attitude I want on a young team. My perfect world as of now... Trade anything not bolted down as far as vet's go. Sexton is on an expiring and would be an easy flip. Bridges, just get him somewhere else. One year left on a low $20 mil deal should be an easy trade...but the apron for many teams could haunt us. LaMelo is the issue. Likely would have to trade our problem to someone else for their problem (Ja, Zion, Zach Lavine) to make contracts somewhat match up. I want to build around last year's draft class, get as many bites at this draft class as possible, etc. If we get lucky and get #1 or #2, wonderful. If not, get into the top 5 or so and grab Caleb Wilson.

Yeah Willis McGahee and that RB from USC come to mind.
-
I already knew this, he was scared of job security because of the numbers Rico was putting up. Can't say I blame him but it hurt the team.
-
Yeah, if Brooks becomes anything more than a guy released before the end of his rookie contract and you never hear from them again, that’s found money. I don’t see him coming back from both injuries. Even in his brief time back before the injury last year, he did not look impressive. He looked slow and had no explosion. Now he’s been out 2 years? I doubt he does anything in the league, but who knows? Again, if he does, that’s would be awesome for us. But if he doesn’t, I’m excited about what we have and/or retain out of Chuba, Rico, and Etienne. Etienne is gonna be NICE.

Goaltending wins championships Yet we continue to only invest in forwards who dissappear in the playoffs We won't win a cup untill we get our own Bob

I’m a packers fan and I agree with you that we aren’t that great. I just hope we beat the Vikings this week. -
Shouldn’t we have Rice a Roni for SF vibes

Hubbard says he might have rushed back
Donald LaFell replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah he has a “springy” quality when he’s at his best. I’m always really impressed how he navigates traffic. Dowdle will always be faster but when a team is really loading the box I wonder if a healthy Hubbard might be more effective. -
Yeah, Chuba looked better against ATL. He had some more burst. He looked slow and heavy the weeks prior. And interestingly enough, Rico didn’t look quite as sturdy or explosive against ATL, as he came into it banged up. I hope they both feel better going into the San Fran game, as they’ll have an extra day of prep, and then I hope they both get back to as close to in-season 100% as possible after the bye week. We need them.

Chuba looked a lot faster last week. His burst might be back.

No winners with the Captain last game going Ehlers. That boy is red hot.

Rico deserved his garlands, the guy flat out played lights out when we had to rely on him. Chuba, we seemed to forget was also a steady, sturdy running back himself, and when he didn't come back and set the world on fire, a lot of folks were basically calling him a bum for it. Let's be honest, though, we've got two excellent running backs and 11 weeks into the season they have had their bumps and bruises. Goes with the game. We've got the latest bye game possible and we're rotating them, so maybe down the stretch when the cold wind blows those two guys can just keep pounding the opposing teams into submission.

Understood, but sometimes that's how things grow. Up through the dirt and the manure to burst into the light. Heck, not sure what I'd do with myself if there was an unexpected playoff appearance.
