  3. I don’t know what the team is thinking but I tend to agree on LOT. I have said before that it pushes the upgrades we hoped to make all down a rung on the priority ladder. It feels like… you have this great vacation planned and right before you are about to go, you lose your job. You still gonna take that vacation or are you going to pay bills?
  4. I think the Bevell hire has more to do with adding actual veteran head coaching experience to the staff than anything else. But I do wholeheartedly agree that the obsession in general with Seattle needs to come to an end. I mean we plucked the one guy there to be our GM who turned out to be our worst GM in franchise history in just a few short years and that's really saying something given our history there. Clearly trying to mimick Seattle in any way has not been productive. As far as Idzik many of us have asked the same question but at this point in time it doesn't really matter anymore because Canales is either going to lead this franchise to a winning record or he will be shown the door.
  5. Why wasn't here even considered? Better record and save % than any of t he 3 goalies on the US squad.
  6. That’s why Bevell is a good move. Idzik might not be chopped liver, he is just inexperienced and even less ready to be the play caller than Canales. I still say the playbook is limited which is a hinderance to calling plays, I would imagine. Anyway Beavis lol… no Bevell, got to consecutive SBs as an OC and won one with 48 points or something. Should have won the second one. And had several more good years there. They were the team we had to learn how to beat it took us til the third year I think before we could go into Seattle and successfully compete. That is glass half full thinking, yep, but that is head and shoulders over what we have had here for a while. Certainly now. In addition.. It was Canales’ boss. He knew more then , I would bet he knows more now. I can’t look at this as anything but a potential positive thing. Hell he might be the guy that can look at Dave and say what the fug are you doing? And Dave will listen. I think I can hope for that. Maybe not.
  7. Whether it was Smitty or Cam, Gettleman should have kept Smitty on the roster and play out his contract. I think the 2015 team with Smitty on it would have probably gone undefeated and we would have won our 2nd Super Bowl visit. Worse than letting him go was he never address bringing in a Stud veteran WR.
  8. Just concerned about the dynamics and the ongoing obsession with the time on Seattle….why is Idzik still here…no idea what he does
  9. I say this-- 1. LT 2. Edge 3. ILB 4. C 5. WR Of course, I am thinking we can add 2 needs via free agency, but until then, you don't know your top three needs and it is pointless to talk about the draft based on needs before free agency in March. We could splurge at Edge, but I think we could simply add a situational pass rusher like Reddick (Tampa Bay, former Panther) for a season and draft an edge in round 2. I think Jones and Scourton are a pretty effective as bigger pass rushers who can hold the edge, but I think they play both sides. If the Panthers had a pure designated pass rusher (Princely could develop; Reddick is one) Jones and Scourton could play to their strengths on the strong side more. (Hard to describe the OLBs in Evero's system). I do think the second round is where to shop if you already have Jones II and Scourton with Princely rotating in. Last year, Wonnum, Jones were out and we had 2 rookies--I expect growth.
  10. Pitt must be truly terrible. Good. fug 'em. Can't stand Pitt. They play shitty dirty ball in both football and basketball.
  11. Swayman rocking a .700 sv% ... Shoulda called up the Bus Stop!
  12. Yeah I'm surprised they got up by 20 without those two. Good response after some bad blows
  13. At least Slavin didn’t hurt Ehlers haha. That would be our luck with injuries this year. But the goal from center ice was cheeks.
  14. The officials have apparently been given the directive to make sure the gold medal match is US v Canada. Slavin trips Ehlers, who slides into net, knocking it off the posts and Ehlers gets called. Brady Kfug is a penalty machine. He's getting away with cross checks and head shots at will. Swayman gives up a goal from the red line. Yes, the red line.
  15. 100% correct. I think any of those "good" coaches that may have hypothetically been candidates for us wouldn't consider the job not just because of Tepper, but because of the catastrophe they'd be inheriting at the QB position.
  16. Maybe the Bevell hire will help. Time will tell
  17. Yeah man. Here it is you are in January 2024. One coach run off over Bryce. Job is now open. You are a coach with interest from multiple teams. You look at Bryce’s 2023 performance, and maybe note Tepper’s volatility, what are you thinking? Scary situation or great opportunity? People should not lose sight of why we have a Dave Canales here. Getting any iind of decent results from him is a win.
  18. I think you might be selling Bevell a little short. He was with Miami working for one of the better offensive minds in the league which isn’t nothing. He is a better sounding board than Idzik I would bet. not arguing about the rest of it or Canales, just saying.
  19. Can't disagree with him much. Really need that Defense QB at MLB this season. If there is one when we pick.
  20. Dave as an OC is no fireball his offense, bottom of the NFL the last two, years year 3 has to be much better i find it concerning that instead of bringing in a bright offensive mind, or fresh approach. He brings in yet another other bromance from Seattle and Pete Carroll Dave is good in a CEO kinda role but I’ve seen nothing that screams ‘star OC’ i almost feel like his play calling has cost them a couple of games and in some of the others, the players did their thing
  21. Oof. Veesar went from probable last night to OUT. No Eilson or Veesaar is gonna be a tough road to hoe today. Putt sucks, but hell without those two guys so do we. LOL
  22. https://nfltraderumors.co/panthers-2026-offseason-team-needs-pending-fas-draft-picks-more/ Good write-up, Logan Ulrich is a Panthers fan
  23. If I remember correctly, one of the hire conditions was that Bryce had to be the guy. That probably greatly limited candidates. Coaches have to be allowed to control who they can play or move on from if they're not cutting it. That applies to Bryce or any other QB. I'd hate to be stuck with Josh Rosen for a starting QB just because he was a top 10 pick.
  24. Rozeboom was solid all things considered and the team is going to leave the light on for Wallace. But the Panthers are starved for a leader and dynamic playmaker in the middle of their defense. The organization has a long and proud history of difference-making linebackers - from Luke Kuechly who just joined former Panther Sam Mills in the Hall of Fame, to guys like Thomas Davis, Jon Beason and Dan Morgan, the current GM. It's time to find the next one.
